I saw THE FIGHTER MOVIE today with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg.Best boxing picture I ever saw alongside the Bronx Bull.
What great acting from Christian Bale And Mark Wahlberg. They ACTUALLY
looked the part of pro fighters. Not the usual Hollywood suspects. What say U ?

    I loved it

Really liked how they used the actualy HBO camera's to film the fight scenes.

Excellent movie, that hopefully inspires more studios to finance boxing films about the past greats.

I agree!.I don,t see too many modern movies, BUT Christian Bale, who I never heard of before, was uncanny in his part playing Dick Eklund.I was so impressed with his Lew jenkins-like physique, and likewise ,I felt Mark Wahlberg looked like Mickey Ward, and emulated Ward's left hook to the liver
punch. Most of all, these two actors were PLAUSIBLE fighters in their roles...

yeah christian bale is awesome some of the lengths he goes through for his roles..... i think you would like the prestige if you seen that burt its about victorian magicians sounds a bit crap but its actually a good film.

It was an excellent movie, my wife and I really enjoyed it.

They did include a little Hollywood, like when he was outweighed by 20 pounds, and when he was knocked down in the so called World title (WBU) bout, But that's Hollywood.

I wore my New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame jacket to the movie, so a lot of people questioned me after the movie about how much was real and how much was not, so I told them. I thought for the most part, it was pretty close to what actually happened. I can see why Christian Bale is up for an Academy Award.

I also been in Mickey Ward's company several times, as he has come to many functions that I ran or MC'ed. He was also at one of the Arturo Gatti's Memorial services, along with guys like Mickey Rourke.

IMO, Christian Bale saved this movie. It had a good story with Dick Eukland and he and Mickey's mother and the all those sisters he had. It was all believable on the surface. I got annoyed at the excessive montage scenes with old rock playing like Foghat and groups like that. Too much of that killed the emotion of the movie. And some may not wanna hear this but I get tired of Hollywood almost exclusively doing boxing movies about white fighters. I'd like to see a movie about Archie Moore or Charlie Burley or Henry Armstrong. So many black fighters out there with incredible stories that get no love. Can't believe there isn't a movie about JAck Johnson either.
