Nope, Holmes was very complimentary towards Eddie Futch, and Richie Giachetti .
My word, you must be running out of excuses soon!

Your logic is hilarious. Can't tell whether you're arguing in good faith or not but this is a ridiculous false dichotomy (either we discredit him as a complete fraud or we must accept that he's one of the greatest trainers in the world). Like I've said, I can't find much about his actual accomplishments in six decades of training fighters, other than his wins with the veteran ATGs Holmes and Holyfield. It's very hard to get a clear picture of the value that he added for any particular fighter, unless we credit him with Holyfield's game plan against Tyson. Between these uncertainties and the gibberish he spouts out in his youtube interviews, the Holmes quote, the dearth of substantive appraisals from his other fighters, and the Holyfield-Moorer cutman fiasco, etc. I'm agnostic and a bit skeptical.

“Holmes, at a news conference in Manhattan for his June 12 defense against Leon Spinks in Detroit, called Giachetti a schemer and a conniver and ''a disgrace to the human race.''

''I paid the man $1.5 million,'' Holmes said, ''which is very good for someone just pouring water, putting in my mouthpiece and saying, 'Time.' ''

I don't recall seeing Ray Arcel in Carneras corner.
However he claimed that he trained Primo.

If someone here says that Ray Arcel trained Primo Carnera, we have to find corroborating footage to prove it?
A qualified high level professional trainers word isn't enough?
    Seems preposterous.

I also want to find info on him training the Klitschkos, but I give him the benefit of the doubt.

In post 211 i've noted he trained Wlad at a point when Wlad was changing trainers as if they were jocks. Seems like he didn't train him for long at all and it was before Steward did great things with him. Pretty sure Turner bagged Wlad sometime after being dumped.

I mostly liked Don Turner as a trainer but what bothered me about him in the corner, was his often negative demeanour and tone of voice when talking to his fighter between rounds. Usually when it wasn't going well admittedly.

That might work for some fighters but for me I could never see how that tone could bring the best out of a fighter. It an observation not a damnation of him.

Ronny Shields cornerwork bothered me in a similar fashion.

    Primary source proving Arcel's quote?
Its like the kid saying ,"Turner trained world champions like Kovalev.
Turner trained Kovalev for18 months, when he was let go, Kovalev had just had his first 8 rounder. So he sure wasn't any world champion then was he.

I'd give Arcel the benefit of the doubt, if this quote gets verified, because he is a universally acknowledged great trainer and can be seen in the corners of multitudes of world class fighters and p4p greats. He is routinely mentioned as one of the all time greats along with Eddie Futch.

The man in my avatar knew Ali very well and has about 30 photos and personal anecdotes to prove it.
He is a real gentleman without a bad word to say about anyone.

Arcel is of course levels above.
But Turner isn’t so far away that when he says he trained fighter X, you don’t immediately give him the benefit of the doubt.

A guy like that in a position like his would never lie about that. It’s not realistic. If he did, then holy **** that’s shocking.

Do you realize how many people knew Ali, and considered themselves really close to him? Could write a book on that alone.

I knew him ,and trained him for the Lewis fight he didn't look too good because he had a cold. Yup tons of books onAli and I've probably read about 10 of them, including the new one,I don't recall Mr Turners name in any of them.

    Cincinnati -Kentucky how far?
NB Turner moved to NY in1959 when he was 20, so when did he see Marciano fight?

Turner's role for the second Kovalev fight,[and this did make me laugh,]cut man! The job he said was," bull**** and a scam."You couldn't make it up!
