Tony Arnold: "I spent plenty of time at Stillmans' gym and most of the teaching was on the heavybag. I never saw the pads used in Stillman's. I know they were used time to time. But they were only effective for bringing attention to a particular flaw that you were trying to correct. Once the fighter gets the idea of what the trainer is trying to have him do then you have him execute it on the heavybag." From "The Arc of Boxing"
That's an internet poster guy is going off the same thing we are. The earliest photo he can find through Google of pad work is of Rocky hitting them. lol But they existed before, as Tony Arnold mentioned in the book "Arc of Boxing" You should read it, instead of telling others to read it. Where is your quote about Goldman innovating with pad work? You are so ****ing wrong. And not only wrong, but you're a rude ass.
That ,"internet poster guy," was a professional fighter, name of Tommy Noel. The site he is on is Old School Boxing This content is protected I was trying to help you out. You should be like a dog with two tails, you're getting the discussion you say you were craving earlier! I'm not going to respond to your immature insults.
Come on, if you read on a bit further Don Explains himself. You can’t just cherry pick the part that suits “Turner the fraud”. The guy is not a fraud. He’s never been exposed. He is no more fraudulent than Steward was. Manny Steward lost fights with his fighters too. We can’t have it both ways. When a trainers fighter loses the trainer will say “he didn’t listen”. The fighter will say “my trainer was t good enough”. Both blame the other. The trainer comes up with the plan and the program. The fighter goes along with it. He might win. He might not. Neither the trainer nor the fighter complains when they win though. Remember that part.
I was wrong about the poster then. However, as I've already pointed out, Pad work was used before. And this quote said nothing about Goldman innovating with pad work. Are you also going to man up and admit that you're wrong, or are you also a dog with two tails?
Why would I need to quote Turner or his assistant? I acknowledged that Steward didn't like him and I provided a link to the book. I think that's more than enough.
He was reporting what Manny Steward said, and also mentioning the "whispers" from Turner's naysayers. Why would I want any congratulations? Feel free to thank me though, for going out of my way to find and deliver to you the type of contextual information you requested.
Stewart also doesn't like strength and conditioning coaches, believes that most modern padwork is ineffective and for show, and thinks that weight lifting ruins a fighter. Bullshiter BBQ uncle too? Or just the one who said Rocky would KO Klitschko?
LOL! You're reeeeaching now. And why? Do you really want me to waste time explaining why Turner comes across as far more of a bullshitter than Manny Steward? If so, I'm gonna have to respectfully decline.
A one sided presentation is not the context I was looking for. I know you only have the ability to produce the negative things. That is all you're good for in this thread. Which is okay, it serves a functional purpose, but don't act like you don't benefit mutually from restricting the information you share to the stuff that makes Turner look bad. I'm not thanking you for that, but your greed is impressive.
Steward did not dislike him. Turner did not dislike Steward. These guys were not that sensitive. And were respectful of the other. You don’t get that far in boxing taking a huff over certain things that crop up in interviews. Don said “I’m not going to talk bad about Emanuel but I can tell you he dosnt know what I told Michael to do because he was not in the camp” after saying fighters don’t always do what you tell them he said “ask Emanuel what the strategy was when Marvin Hagler knocked out Thomas Heans”
I have no interest in playing debate at the expense of two great trainers name. I don't use these figures a stepping stone for my ego/status. Go fish.

This is just silly. You guys are crying foul because I didn't take the time to type out Turner's "Manny's always picking on me. It wasn't my fault" rebuttal? You guys are hilarious.
