More than some, less than others. People cant seem to acknowledge this sport leaves more up to the beholders personal opinions than most others.
Merry Xmas Lance. Compliments of the season to you and your family. Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year in 2022.
Thanks mate for your'e insightful post! Glad to have you on this forum, you know more than all of us including me(i take lessons in a boxing gym 13 years ago ). Have a question for you mateo you find some guys who have superior talent over the others at the gym based on your'e experience? do you know if some have turn pro?
Very patchy really I've followed the sport for just over 35 years. Although I have interest in certain divisions any of the low weights I'm pretty clueless. I've read quite a few books on individual fighters over the years and have an overview of the surface history. I wouldn't class my self as an expert by any stretch.
I would describe myself as a semi-casual, so probably above your average casual viewer, but that's not saying much. I am much more interested in bigger men boxing. I have limited interest in watching small blokes. Heavyweight >>>>>>> cruiserweight >> light heavyweight >>> super middleweight > middleweight >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the rest.
Thanks. I think there are a ton of guys on this forum that know more historically than I do. I simply post what I know and see when watching a fCrack. As far as folks with superior talent, I have seen plenty of guys that were naturally gifted and it showed instantly. Cory Spinks and Terron Millet were local guys that I saw growing up that were naturally talented. Cory had incredible hand and foot speed and was really determined. His father and uncle were not around him much growing up and all that he accomplished was all his doing and natural talent. Millet had natural bone crushing power. He absolutely could crack but was not the most dedicated from what I recall. I personally was never anything special. By the time I was in my late teens I had become a father and my priorities shifted. I stopped competing and just became a fan for years until my kids were grown and I had my time back to focus on training. I had a few more amateur fights in my 30's but they were just smoker type fights. Now I am just a guy trying to stay in shape that likes to switch off holding mitts with other folks that enjoy the sport.
Used to know the whole scene in the late 80s 90 s lost my way for a long time but getting back into it slowly.
