I feel I'm higher than the average casual but man, I really am nothing compared to a lot of you walking encyclopedias!
LOL it's not that difficult mate! were on the internet btw you can get info in seconds! just a tips lol
Compared to a casual fan I know a lot since I follow it daily but that’s not saying much as the average casual dksab. They take interest during fight week of a big event from what they see and hear being promoted via Sky and in their social media feeds. I’m thinking about becoming more of a casual next year with the way boxing is right now it’s frustrating to follow with fighters not being active enough and more concerned with protecting their 0. They fight once or twice a year whilst avoiding the legit competition - then when we do get genuine good fights there’s too much A side B side BS and then a lot of pullouts lately too. Better off following WWE at this rate.
You could shoehorn Fury into a discussion about molecular dynamics. You're tormented by his existence.
I've got to say that's some shocking judgment of talent if you thought Joshua would beat Usyk emphatically. Galahad vs Martinez was one nobody could predict, who would have ever predicted an agingg shopworn veteran to beat a prime skilled champion.
I saw Usyk look less than amazing against Witherspoon and Chisora and thought Joshua would overpower him eventually. Hands up. I got it wrong. I won't be losing sleep over it
Not having a go at you mate, just a tongue in cheek comment. I agree based on his two prior performances at HW you could think he'd crumble when facing Joshua but against Chisora he just recovered from covid and had both arms injured by round 6, had a terrible camp which lasted over a year and had to be constantly reset.
I have to be honest, my only exposure to Usyk has been from Gassiev onwards but even then I have just casually observed him rather than fully appreciate him for his talent. For what it's worth I think he'll beat Fury on points unless Fury makes it an ugly and spoiling affair (like the Cunningham fight). I think Fury's wins over Wilder have led to alot of people over rating him. Usyk will be a very elusive target for anyone and he'll beat Joshua again.
Compared to my friend circle and other casuals, an 11/10. Within this site, a 3/10 Compared to the top 10% knowledgable people within this site, I'd say a 1. To be honest, the top 10% of this site probably bas more knowledge or is on the same level as the mainstream boxing analysts. Some probably even on the levels of world level coaches / mike tyson. I tell people the the NBA forum i go to has more knowledge than most people on TV, the people on those forums ABSOLUTELY LOVE basketball to death and they have 50+ year olds who spend ALL their free time watching / analyzing basketball. Pure love of the sport. Nothing will beat a deep love for something. Same applies to this site! Though I may not agree with everything you hardcores say about everything, some of you are legit historian levels
I'm going to compare myself to people who watch every fight there is (not just A or B level guys or big fights) and watch old classic fights often. So: Sport itself (technique, scoring, etc) - 8 General knowledge of who fought who, who won, who was/is good - 7 modern - 5 classic Actual watched fights - 6 (there's a lot of lower level fights I don't watch, but I keep up with the A and B level guys) Actual classic fights watched - 2 (too many fights from older eras I haven't seen) Granted I'd put 99% of the population at a 1 in most categories. I follow the sport far closer than 99% of the population and probably everyone here does. My ability to tell if a guys is legit or overhyped is pretty good.
