... I'm 39 and have followed boxing for 30+ years. (more like 22 years as a "die hard", more of a casual before that) If I make it to my nineties I don't anticipate having ceased to follow boxing.

Man, are you ******ed? in my country there are kids who start following football when they are like 3 or 4 years old. I know people in his 40s and 50s who are registered as active members and subscribers of their football club literally (I repeat, LITERALLY) since the very day they were born. In cuba, when you are 7 you are already fighting championships. Could you just stfu and let it go? it's is not so hard. If you dont believe him, good for you, it's not mandatory to believe him. He's a very good poster, that's all I care about.
