Ya seamus, you can blame that on me. I was the one who started it. Why? because I was feeling so naughty today!
Forgiven. I understand. Gets your laugh in now. Your drill instructors are going to break you down, then if you mentally and physically tough enough build you up. A few last tips: Remember regulations for bed making are different in Italy and Germany, dont play cards with a man who says bluff me, watch out for female MPs on your night off, and most importantly dont let any homos touch your stuff!
i have the knowledge just not the expereince that comes with age. my dad who isnt a big boxing fan if not a fan at all. knows far more about the life and storys of guys like freddie mills and terry downes...he saw jack bodell get dispersed by quarry. in a few years i think i will have a very good all round knowing of the sport. it's the bert sugar syndrome. he knows alot and is a writer and knows how to talk about it but is a bit of a story teller and a exagerationist. but he can get away with it becuase he has been in the game for so long....even if he was a failed baseball writer.
I fall into different catagories based on boxing catagory... Heavyweight History 5 Boxing from 1976 - 1999 4.5 Overall non-heavyweight 3.5 Present Day 2000 - today 2.5
This is a good question, but when you stop to think about it, it is a question that needs to be answered in different areas regarding the sport. 1. Boxing history-I have above average knowledge on boxing history. I can tell you every heavyweight champ in history in order, what years they were champ, and their boxing styles. I also know about most of the all time greats at other weights. I don't by any means think I am even close to the most knowledgeable boxing historian on this website, but I am not the least knowledgeable either. Some of the guys on this website are really impressing and knowledgable. History of all kinds has always interested me, I actually hold a BA in History even though I ended up in construction, and with the advent of the information age and the internet, it has become so easy to acquire knowledge and facts and to educate myself. 2. Being a boxer- It is possible for a guy to know boxing history as well as anybody and be a fan of the sport, while at the same time having never boxed themselves. I did box competitively, and I still train in the sport at the age of 36, and I have recently started to train others. I was never talented, never fought pro, never was a decorated amateur, but I did compete in amatuer shows and the Golden Gloves, as well as on the Toughman Circuit. I understand first hand how boxers feel. I know what it feels like to get hit with a good shot, what it feels like when you are dead tired in the ring, the nervousness a fighter feels before a fight. I understand how demanding a sport boxing is, both physically and mentally. I understand how frustrating it can be when you don't have access to good training or don't have someone to get you bouts, and how hard it is to find people in the sport to surround you with that you can trust and learn from. 3.Things I wish I knew-What I wish I knew about more is how the business of pro boxing works exactly, particulary at the club level. I don't understand why pros don't fight once a month like they used to, or why they wouldn't want to. Wouldn't it make more sense for a pro to fight more often from a financial standpoint, the more fights, the more paychecks, right? I wish I understood this aspect of boxing alot more. ICEMAN, if you are reading, maybe you can school me, because you boxing as well as anyone in the world, from history, to participating, to knowing how the business works.
