Both have matured . . . it's gonna be a chess match this time . . . Pacquiao will still be aggresive but JMM will be very very careful and will box and counter. The JMM/MAB and Pac/MAB already gave us a preview of what to expect. If ever there will be a K.O. or K.D it's gonna be in the later rounds.
I dont believe that JMM will be as careful and shy with his punches as alot of you might like to think...... ......at least he's not going to be as careful as for example Roy Jones was vs Trinidad. Marquez is not going to go on the defensive like that. Certainly when Pac misses, Marquez will make him pay, and even when he does'nt miss, their will be a response in as far as a counter when the opportunity is there in front of him. Thats the thing that is going to be so troubling for Pac. He will always have to worry about getting hit back and hit back with force, even in the times that his own shots land. Thats something that he certainly did'nt have to worry about with MAB who was to worried about getting hit. Certainly you want a good tight defense, but if you're too worried and preoccupied with not getting hit, you're certainly going to set yourself up for failure, and psychologically thats where MAB was at with Pacquiao.
How exactly are the assets of Pac hold only a SMALL margin on JMM? Are you serious? Pac is definitely bigger, faster(both movement and footspeed-wise), and way stronger than JMM. He has a much better chin and has way more explosiveness. These are not "small" margins in favor of Pac. If skill is what separates JMM from Pac, these assets are what separates Pac from JMM. The only thing that JMM has a say on Pac is the hand speed. I think both can unload punches in real rapid succession. In this fight, I expect JMM to continually upset Pac with his amazing technical abilities(i.e counter punching). That almost certainly will happen. But at the end of the day, in the later rounds, Pac's sheer speed, strength and the ability to deliver punches in a very explosive fashion will overwhelm JMM and lead to a TKO. We have to take into consideration the fact that Pac is not your typical Brawler/Pressure Fighter who bullies people in the ring without much movement like the feet is firmly planted to the ground. He bullies his opponents but with alot of feet, body and head movement for evading or blocking any punch or counter-punch. And unlike most brawlers who just stays in one place once the opponent is caught and unload a barrage of punches non-stop hoping the opponent would go down, what Pac does is he unloads a barrage of punches, steps back, then unloads another barrage of punches. His sheer speed and explosiveness allows him to do that over and over again, making it hard for his opponent to fight back or do some counterpunching, atleast harder than against a typical Brawler. In a way, Pac is like a brawler with a boxer's fast movements. That is what would eventually overwhelm JMM. For all the beautiful counter-punching and combinations that he would do to Pac, I just dont think he can keep up with Pac's sheer speed and explosiveness for 12 rounds. This is why I dont think Pac is as susceptible against a skilled technician as most of the brawlers/pressure fighters.
Your points would be something to think about had these two not already met in the ring. Pac did all the things you said in their first fight. He certainly was'nt a stationary target.....and he certainly was using his feet and head movement to try and angle in...... Pac's problem came in that he actually has to get set to land with power. We have seen Pac recently do better in throwing combinations and using his right hand in the process, but all of this comes at a price. The price being his punching power and his ability to overwhelm opponents with it. Now when Pac tries to be better technically and do all the things to better himself technically......how far will that go against a fighter like JMM who has done it naturally all through his boxing career. I believe that the only thing that Pac has a clear edge in is punching power when he gets set and explodes. But against great counterpunchers like JMM, getting set and then exploding becomes predictable. Every other advantage that Pac may have like speed, quickness, strenghth, and what have you, is not by a big margin and certainly not decisive. I think you will be suprised that Pac will certainly not overwhelm JMM with strenghth. In that dept, JMM is solid. Pac certainly has some advantages, but there not as clear cut as you'd like to make them out to be. Pac is doing all the thing you point out in your post.....he's using his feet more while he boxes.....but as I said, when you do that, is it playing to his strenghths and advantages vs JMM??? It all sacrifices your power as your feet are not planted to the ground to land that power. Pac is going to have to walk a fine line between boxing and brawling and where that line is that he can cross that will benefit him is something that JMM will likely make it difficult for him to come across. The boxing and skill part is something that JMM has done all through his career and that now comes naturally and instinctively to him. I have no doubt what so ever that Pac will not be able to play and compete at a technical level with the master.......eventually when what he sets out to do does'nt quite go the way he planned, he'll have to eventually try and force a rock'em sock'em game.......thats when the master will more than make Pac look ordinary and as one dimensional as he looked in their first fight. Unfortunately for Pac, at least imo, its really the only way that he has a chance to win.....to force his way with sheer volume and punching power, even if it makes him look mono-dimensional. At least in that way, he may get lucky! ......but hey, you make some fair points, but I just dont see it working against JMM. We'll certainly find out come the 15th of March. ........and hey, welcome to the forum Sting!:hi: :bbb
i could also see the same way of fighting for both guys. jmm will be terribly mistaken if he chooses to brawl with pac as his only advantage over pac is his counterpunching. pac is stronger and faster than jmm so it would be foolish for jmm to go toe to toe with pac.
Read my post above which you probably did'nt get a chance to read before you wrote yours...... ......and age will most likely not be a factor in the fight as I have'nt seen Marquez lose his stamina or slow his workrate in his recent fights. Of course is not going to be as easy as the reads in my posts might make it out to be. I do agree that JMM will win by a comfortable margin, but yeah, certainly Pac will have something to say about it and make JMM work every step of the way. You just dont show up and dominate Manny Pacquiao, you work every step of the way to get there! Let me put it this way, as I'm getting a vibe that you Pac fans see me painting a picture of pure unadulterated domination...... I see JMM doing all the things I've written about, but its not going to be easy, and I certainly dont see this matchup as a mismatch! I hope that satisfies some of you that are irked at my posts! Hey, theres alot to write about when it comes to a fighter like JMM..... I could go on and on..... :hi: :bbb
I'll agree, maybe worried was a bad choice of words......more like Pac is going to have to be concious of the fact that return fire will instantly be coming his way. .....and remember now, certainly JMM was in counterpunch mode, but dont forget that when JMM countered he got aggressive and rode Pac all the way to the ropes for cover on many occasions. Lets not paint a picture that it was all sit back and counter for JMM, he was aggressive after that 1st round as well.....not letting the 3 kd's that occured in that 1st round affect his ability and mindset to drive foward and throw shots.
We've been around this circle before.....the counter opinion to that is that Pac so called better skills will enable JMM to unfold his wider repertoire of punches, thus actually making JMM look better than he did in their first fight. .....and I dont know how you can say that Pac's physicality will be a factor when he has'nt fought a true and natural 130 pounder in his career. In fact, he overwhelmed MAB in ever facet of the game including physically while they fought at 126 lbs, but he did'nt even begin to show those same disparities when they fought at 130lbs. If Pac thought he could overwhelm MAB with strenghth, I would believe he would have took a shot at it....... As I remember, the few times MAB got brave and aggressive in that rematch, MAB got the better of it......where was Pac's physicality then! Physical strenghth will not be the detemining factor my friend, they're both strong fighters!
chicken, tell jmm's asset now with.... chris john??? told yah many times your only claim for fame was a 1 fisted pac after the first round :rofl :rofl :rofl gee, a 1 armed pac almost murdered jmm and an old mab decked jmm .. how about chris john that whooped jmm?? asset my ass :yep :yep :hi: :hi: i cant wait for the fight, morons need to disappear in this forum. please chicken, accept the bet. stop quacking :fire
In counterpunch mode JMM will be....that we agree, the ring general will make it so that it is the case....... .....but the pawing and lunging routine, that we shall see! :yep :bbb
what a moron. jmm couldnt even ko an old mab and a 1 eyed juarez, what do you mean power in both hands :rofl :rofl
didnt you notice, it seems you are the only one defending jmm so, will you please explain the asset of jmm when it comes to chris john? his fight with the old mab where jmm kissed the canvass :roflhow about that day when pac was still a 1 armed bandit and not a pound per pound :verysad :verysad your hugging of balls of jmm deserves an award :yep :yep
I'm not taking Emmanuel Stewards word because he said it.....I'm saying it because I saw it.....the very few times where MAB got brave and took the exchanges to Pac....MAB actually got the better of the exchanges when both were in aggressive and punching mode. .....I'm talking when they're both in the trenches and punching MAB would actually in instances drive Pac back and get the better of the exchange, bringing Emmanuel Steward to later in the fight to wonder and question why MAB would'nt do more of that when he was actually getting the better of that type of an exchange. I have no doubt the MAB would have lost that type of a battle if he insisted on soley driving Pac to retreat.....but the position that Emmanuel took is why MAB did'nt try more of it as to get Pac out of the boxing comfort zone he was in, and into an attack mode that would benefit what MAB was trying to make Pac do....which is to attack vehemently so that MAB could circle and jab. A boxer has to try and do things like that to get an opponent to do what he wants them to do. For example, I think if Pac gets in a comfort zone and sits back against JMM like he did vs MAB.....you will likely see JMM do what Emmanuel was suggesting MAB do that was actually working when he tried it..... ....go foward aggressively and drive Pac back...... .....you win enough of those drive back exchanges as MAB did when he was trying them....eventually Pac would have came out of his sitback mode and tried to retaliate! I'll check back tommorow, I'm going to get a few hours sleep....damn its almost 3am California time!:hi:
