Floyd fights the same like he did vs mosley or IF he doesnt have his legs anymore. A lot of people believe that floyd will potshot his way to a 8-4 type ud right? So how does the fight go if he stands in front of him doesnt move much at all when pac has superior footspeed? I know the fight probably wont happen but lets not turn it into a drugtesting ducking etc. thread.:bbb
If manny lands like mosley did , then it doesnt get out of the second round. Manny punches quicker and straighter. But I dont see Manny being stupid and solely being the agressor , he has always been better when countering and the head movement now is so good that Floyd would need to come forward. Floyd has a great chin , and if he can take the shots early then I give him a chance , but I side with Manny 60 / 40.
Floyd's legs may not be the same but I believe he is boxing at a level as good or possibly even better than he used to. He has the most important tool and that is his mind. I think he has enough tricks and subtle movements to stand right in front of Pac still. Of course, I could be wrong and he could get KO'd..lol..but I don't think so.
People didn't expect Mayweather to stand in front of Mosley, which is why they said his legs are gone...I don't think his legs are gone, but when comparing him to a couple of years ago, he has lost a little speed. I wouldn't advise Mayweather to stand in front of Pacquiao and walk him down like he did Mosley, that would play into Pacquiao's hands in my opinion. He hasn't shown the output lately to trade with Pacquiao in the centre of the ring. I would expect Mayweather to start cautiously and get used to Pacquiao's speed and start to time him, make him walk onto a couple of shots. Mayweather hasn't got the bounce, or the foot speed he used to have, but he is brilliant at judging distance, and once he sees Pacquiao even look like he is going to attack...he will be out of range. Pacquiao's offensive footwork is also brilliant, I would expect him to have some success with that early...picking up the early rounds and getting the crowd excited. Then I believe Mayweather will start having a good deal of success himself, making Manny walk into right hand after right hand, then tying him up as Pacquiao tries to attack. The ref could be vital in who has the most success in the middle rounds. The latter rounds could go either way...Pacquiao will not stop coming, and if he is behind going into the latter rounds, he will put the pressure on Mayweather, he will go for broke. On the other hand, if Mayweather is behind, he may have to go looking for Pacquiao...which could be a good or bad thing. Pacquiao could take advantage of this by throwing some very fast combination's as Mayweather walks him down, or Mayweather could exploit Pacquiao's not so great defensive footwork. I would expect Mayweather to pick up an SD/UD in this bout, and expect both to bring out the best in each other. Get the ****er made!
Good read I this is a likely scenario if neither of them got old overnight when it happens. This wont be like pac vs oscar/margarito or pbf vs hatton/gatti, I hope it goes something like duran leonard 1.
I don't see either one dominating the other. I think this could top both of their best performances, win or lose. The level this bout could be potentially fought at is very exciting...it could very well be a back and forth bout. It just needs to happen now. :good
First Floyd's legs are not gone. He can still move and he has the best foot work in boxing. He may not move around but his feet are still fast. He can stand in front of Manny bc he has the body cat like reflexes. Now you must understand that if and when he gets inside on Manny he will **** him bc fighters square up on the inside and that is when Floyd will go to his Philly Shell and bang, shove, and hold and hit. I don't think Manny has the ring IQ to beat Floyd at all. For ex: What if Floyd put his left hand over the top of Manny's and take away his right hand? Will Manny go back to just be that left hand happy fighter?
I see your point but I personally think its going to be a boring fight. I think Floyd is going to fight at long range and short range and just jab the hell out of Manny as he is getting closer. Potshot all the way.
floyd still has his legs watch the marquez fight the mosley fight was to prove a point that he could stand toe to toe
It could very well happen like that. But then again, when Manny attacks, Mayweather could happily go back in a straight line...and if he hits the ropes, that will allow Pacquiao to offer some good offense. I think we will see some very close rounds, Pacquiao using his speed and activity, and Mayweather making his stinging shots count.
If Mayweather tries to walk Pacquiao down, he will get stopped in my honest, genuine opinion. Pacquiao is just too fast, powerful and explosive and his chin is too strong, Floyd would break first in that type of fight for sure. Pacquiao can't match Mosley for brute strength, but he is much faster and busier, and as the rounds went past the punches he would land would weaken Floyd to the point where late in the fight his punches would have the effect that Mosley's did in round 2... and at this point in their careers Manny is much more incisive and deadly than Mosley is. He wouldn't stop throwing until the fight was over. Floyd's best chance is to stay on the outside and try to use his reach to outbox Manny, to play it safe and potshot. I don't fancy his chances much doing that either because Manny has the footspeed to continually close the gap whenever he wants to, but I'd expect it to go the full distance, and possibly be a relatively close fight, but Pac's greater desire, courage and workrate would see him win more rounds, plus don't discount the mental effect on the judges of them seeing Floyd get hit much more often and more cleanly than he ever has before.
People keep mentioning the fact that Mayweather has lost speed, if he has, I dont think he's lost enough of it to be an issue. Against Mosley his reflexes and handspeed were still unbelievable. To answer the question though, I dont think it would be Mayweathers best idea to stand infront of Pacquiao, and I dont think he'll do that. Mayweather will probably make this a boring fight actually, he'll frustrate Manny by backing up , tying him up, not engaging him, using the reach, fighting from long range and countering.
I will go ahead and end the thread before anyone comes here and starts with all the hate and gay ****. The fight will look like the Mayweather vs Marquez fight but with Pacquiao winning 4 to 5 rounds. Thats it. People think Manny is goign to walk Floyd down and thats crazy. Manny is going to try and land some quick combinations on Floyd but will struggle to find the proper range to do it. I give it the 7th round and Emanuel Steward will be saying "THIS FIGHT IS TURNING OUT TO BE THE WAY I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE"
