Yes. Plain and simple. If Usyk wins the rubbermatch, I think he is in for a candidate as the best ever, pound for pound. Or at least high on the list.
In what world did Byrd outbox Vitali? Vitali dominated that fight. As he did pretty much any fight throughout his career. He lost twice, due to injuries.
Wrong Vitali didn't dominate the fight that's a long running myth that is simply not true. Forget what the judges scored it which was in Vitali's backyard I might add. Only 8 punches separated Byrd and Vitali 132 to 124 which suggests a very competitive fight, Byrd just like Usyk did to Fury was backing up Vitali in later rounds landing the straight left hand, Byrd also took away Vitali's jab by parrying it all night long. Byrd landed 44 percent of his punches to only 26 percent for Vitali. Very competitive fight that I had Vitali only 5-4 up at the time of the stoppage. I could definitely see Usyk beating Vitali based on the Byrd fight.
I think this might be one of the best HTH matchups all time for Usyk, in terms of difficulty. I'd love to see it.
