Kov is like a freight train, even hopkins who has a super high ring IQ was backing straight up the entire fight. I'd like to see someone just jump on kovalev from round 1 and try to back him up instead, although that could cost them their life. Still walking backwards into the ropes all night is not going to end well when you're fighting him.
Maybe in a few years but right now kov is too experienced and beterbiev too reckless, kov would wipe him out if they fought within the next 6 months (wouldn't happen but you get my point)
Stevenson does have a chance against Kovalev. Stevenson has a -.0000000001% chance against Kovalev. and that is because I am feeling generous today.
Someone fighting unorthodox with good hand speed, good jab, throws from weird angles and is good on the back foot would give kovalev problems
I would say more like 90/10 fight as far as beter, that would be interesting. But if he walks straight into a kovalev right hand I don't care how strong he is, he's getting KTFO. I already saw him get wobbled and dropped.
You step toward him and to your right, his left, so you're turning him and moving away from his right. Then you throw a left hook to his face or belly and a right to his left ear. Turn him. Turn him. Don't move back. Don't circle to your left. Step forward to your right, (his left) and while he's turning his body to reset ... you fire your punches. Some of your rights may land toward the back of his head. But you'll take half his punches away from him. Gotta watch out for his left hook as you're moving to his left, though. But always go to your right against a right-hand bomber like him. Most right-handed people feel comfortable jabbing and moving to the left. But you'll move right into his power right hand going that way.
the problem is, he can throw hard punches from a southpaw stance as well, but this can also work against him, as he squares up to adjust, and a quick counterpuncher may be able to catch him in that position
You're right. He's got power in both hands. In his last couple fights, though, he was really right-hand happy. If he turns southpaw, you just do the same thing mentioned above only you move forward, to his right, and try to avoid the right hook. And throw your punches while he's resetting. I was just pointing out that turning a guy who is storming in at you and hitting him while he's resetting works fine, too.
