How do you think Chad Dawson would do vs Montell Griffin and Virgil Hill?

Obviously both of those fighters in their prime. How do you see the fights going and who wins and how?

I think he would lose to both but for sure would lose to a prime Griffin due to styles. Griffin was technically sound, had excellent defense, and was a difficult style in his prime for anybody. Considering Dawson lost to Pascal he would have lost to Griffin too.

Virgil Hill he might or might not have beaten, it would have been close. He doesn't have the power to knock him out so it would go the distance. I also think Dawson would lose or have problems with Lou Del Valle. That guy was underrated.

Dawson is good but he's in an era where he doesn't have any real challenges.

Tough fights for Dawson due to styles.
I think Griffin would get in close to Dawson and off set him. But think Dawson would eventually pull away and take control in that one.
Against Hill, completely different story. Hill was very adaptable and I think his jab would have been key to outscoring Dawson

I think Griffin struggles mightily with the jab and handspeed of Chad.

I think Hill's lack of a wuality right hand would hurt him.

I'd pick Chad to beat both, with the Hill fight being a tossup.

Virgil Hill was one of the most solid and underrated fighters of his era.Was just a shame that Light Heavy was such a graveyard and lightly regarded back then because him and Prince Charles Williams were solid belt holders and it's a shame they never met.
I know they fell short of elite level but along with Bobby Czyz they were pretty dominant at the top of that division for a time.
I think Hill circa 87-91 would give Chad a tough night whilst Montell could show up on one night and give Chad his toughest night then totally fold in a rematch.I think tall guys with good jabs do well against him though.
History hasn't been kind to many of the best LHW's,and it's a shame.

He'd beat both, the Hill fight would have been a good scrap.

I think that version of Hill would beat Chad, based on that jab. Hill has a fantastic resume and is a LHW legend.
It makes me think that some people never watched prime Hill, because I couldnt see Chad beating him

    Good analysis.

I actually think Dawson would lose to both Griffin and Hill but be competitive with both, but yea I agree with your assessment of the Griffin fight.

Griffin was a pretty incredible fighter.......He was 5'7 and not only competing at LHW but he was one of the best during a solid era, and gave prime Roy problems during their first fight.

Beating Toney twice in the 90's was no mean feat.
The only reason I think Chad is wrong for him is that he seemed to toil against big, upright fighters who fought behind a strong jab.
I'm feeling quite nostalgic for these sadly ignored guys who fought at 175 in the 80's and 90's.
An appreciation thread is in my thoughts.Anyone got any thoughts so I don't make an ass of myself with a dead duck of a thread?
