Ali's main rivals talking about him. Loved it.

It depends on who is doing the remembering.

I was 19 when Clay "beat" Liston the first time. I remember him as an obnoxious loudmouth and suspected fraud.

People who actually were around and really do remember him have a different opinion of him than people who have simply read about him.

We won't be around forever. The Ali cult will take over and he will be regarded as a great.

He will be like JFK and Martin Luther King- two moral reprobates and sleaze balls who have been deified and placed on pedestals.

Lyle, Norton, Shavers, Terrell, and the late Joe Frazier have immortalized their opinions in film. It's videos like the above that will define new opinions.

Most of us will recall him as the best heavyweight ever. As someone with virtues and flaws like any other human being, famous or not famous.

This is how I see it, I suppose. I'm not a fan, but not a hater either. I could do without both the idolatry and hate for him, to be frank.

    The greatest of all time.

All p4p bs aside is there a boxer in history that would be a clear favourite over Ali?

I think I give Frazier a slight edge but i wouldn't bet money on it. He called himself the greatest and he secured a legacy worthy of the title.

I will tip my hat to the way Ali has handled his affliction.

I read a statement from him not long ago ; "We play the hands we are dealt. I never complained when I was on top of the world and I won't start complaining now".

He's much more of a man now than he was 40 years ago.

the greatest heavyweight along with joe louis and 2nd only to sugar ray. he will get more respect in future years cuz his footwork was light years ahead of any other heavyweight. he hovered across the ring at his peak. no heavy has come close since. walcott, tunney, conn knew the importance of it but none moved like ali.

Some people on the forum may dislike him. But make no mistake about the world loves Ali People remember him now as the guy who stood up for what he believed in.

The greatest heavyweight of all-time, albeit a bit of a superfreak.

He was just the opposite. This is one of the myths that surrounds him.

Ali told Ray Robinson, that he wanted to be inducted, fight the exhibitions, keep his title and be back in two years.

He went on to say that Elijah Muhammad "won't let me" and that he was "really scared" to not obey him.

This is a man who was cowed into submission by a petty con man and thug.
