:good Soon I can organise the first ever ESB Box off world Championships :bbb

Boxing is like a savage dance. Everything you do should work off of a rythm. The jab is the beat. Everything works off of that beat. I used to say 'bap' every time I jabbed in the gym. Three jabs is 'bap, bap, bap' just to help me relax, help everything flow. If you're relaxed then you'll punch quicker. You also get more oxygen that way. Like the first time most guys spar, they forget to breathe!

There's a mis-conception about Boxing. It's not barbaric. It's a form of art. Combat meets art.

As an amateur, my jab was my best weapon. The trick is to throw it in several different ways, so your opponent can't get a bead on it. Rangefinder, spoiler, or attack, they're all important.

Personally I favored the "weight on back foot, snap as fast as possible" approach, as Bogotazo describes above. You stay away, then lunge slightly forward off the back foot as you jab (as straight as possible), but then immediately bounce back off the front foot. (while moving your head sideways, if possible.) The idea is to finish where you started, or slightly to the right. This makes the jab reasonably dangerous (so you don't get countered) without the danger of moving in too far. Like SJS19 wrote, it's sort of like dancing.

I also used to love to occasionally switch to southpaw, but just for maybe 10 seconds, and throw "lead lefts." This is quite dangerous, but can really be effective.

Whatever style, the main thing to work on, IMO (take that for what it is) is SPEED.

Too much ado about so many trying hard to be experts in ESB!!!!

There are tons of videos that would give you the fundamentals to throwing a jab.

    here is one:

And stop reading what the ESB idiots are saying. Many of them would claim to be world champions. If they are so good, why would they want to feed their egos claiming to be experts?

those guys are so reluctant with any form of competition. Some of the biggest egos I seen. Our branch is the best one available or the proper way, but we don't even get down

i hate this threads when noobs ask questions like this. put this **** in another part of the forum and talk to the east side boxing coach. if you think the lames on east side can tell you better then your coach then your screwed and will just have a **** jab that i will just counter over anyways.

I've been really frustrated with my jab over the past couple weeks.

I've really been trying all kind of new things with it. I really like the chopping jab that shoots out the elbow when I'm about to set up a combination on the inside. Otherwise, it's usually Cotto style or in some situations, pawing.

This is Pejevan. He taught himself to Box on Youtube and is so far undefeated with 0 wins,0 losses, 0 draws and 0 KO's.

He also thinks that Ali and Lennox Lewis were equal when it came to power.

It much better than actually thinking that Lennox wins against Ali. A chinny fighter actually winning against a fighter whose chin is tested.

    Who is crazier?

Oh,I forgot!!!! You train kids to box and therefore you are expert.

If you were capable of reading properly; you'd of seen that I said Lennox COULD win, not that he WOULD win.

Do I need a translator or does that register with you?

:yep I got you. What I tried to do is keep my weight back a little, but distributed evenly on both of my feet. You should be standing and be able to pivot into your left hook and right hand easily from the position.

:yep I'm down. I heard boxing_rn has been wanting to fight me for awhile

:lol: gtfo here Pejevan. We know ydsab.

That's actually a HORRIBLE jab. No speed, no weight behind it at all, and no movement afterwards. Plus, she should ideally be turning even more sideways, to maximize the range. If you enjoy getting countered all night, I highly suggest you take this guy's advice.

Like others have said, why isn't the OP asking a trainer or coach? You need someone knowledgable who can first study your faults, then shape your technique based around your existing physique.
