push your weight through your front foot.i always get the kids to rock from their front foot to their back one when they first start, just to get their balance.
When I jab, I step forward off my back leg by using with the inside muscles of the leg. This gives me a balanced, stiff jab while stepping forward.
Not just that, but if you do it correctly. There is very little to not tell that you are about to punch. Just suddenly your fist is in their face.
The front knee should be partially bent with slightly more weight on the front foot than the back. But you don't have to lean forward. It's just a matter of weight transfer.
Body is there to transport the Head, where it wants to go in balance. what makes this possible and nothing moves without it is the Floor.
This makes so much sense thank you guys. I am going to start working on this today. I reckon its good to have a good jab.
Also whats not mentioned much is the Kinetic balancing act, between the Thumb and Hips in all of this.
1. don't worry about putting any weight on the jab; use speed and accuracy. 2. put weight in it by landing the jab as your weight goes into the front foot. 3. lift the heel of your rear foot as the jab lands mix 1-2-3 randomly to keep your opponent guessing.
