He may have been outpointed on any given night by a competent boxer. His layed back style in the 90's made him more susceptible to being outworked. He still loses to Ali by ko and Young by decision. Kos Frazier and Norton but taking longer to do so.
Guys like Axel Schulz did it easily. Even Moorer who had no footwork did it. Whether he would use that strategy is another story. As stated before even Qawi who wasn't a heayweight was able to have decent success using same type game plan.
Moorer no footwork? Im not a Moorer fan but that statement is really really dumb. His footwork wasnt flashy but it was very solid and effective. If it wasnt..... Foreman would have stopped him in 3 rounds, Holyfield would have never struggled with him and Botha would have outboxed him and won every round. Moorer was not very fast and had chin problems but his footwork was not one of his weaknesses whatsoever. Now he may have circled "the wrong way" against foreman but the fact that he was able to stay as close to George as he did without a concrete chin is proof enough that his Footwork was more than sufficient. Even without watching his feet, just logic would tell you that someone with Moorers lack of chin, lack of size and lack of footspeed to get anywhere near the top of the HW division would have to have solid fundamentals. 100s of HWs could hit. Power alone isnt that rare of a trait and Moorers was "just" very solid, not elite.
