Fight everybody, win most of the time, be consistent, have a long career. It worked for Holyfield.

I've thought about this a little like what are the best fights I've seen. I've only seen two fights that I would rate a 10. That's rarified air. It's like a dream because it's almost too good to be true. A 10 is an impossible standard, you can't live up to it, it's way more than you can possibly imagine. It's euphoric. I don't rate fights a 10 except when I do. Those are Hagler Hearns and Morales Barrera I. And I was tempted to rate Hagler Hearns a 9.5 because it didn't even reach the end of round 3. Thus, perhaps Morales Barrera I is the only fight I would rate solidly as a 10. Gatti Ward I certainly had the entertainment value and savagery of a 10. But the level of competition and the fact that it wasn't for a belt keeps it a 9.5 for me. Gatti and Ward were just fighting on a lower level of talent in comparison to Hagler, Hearns, Morales and Barrera.

What about Pacquiao-Marquez IV? This is a 10 fight for me (despite the ending).

    Elite skills? Check.
    Extreme violence? Check.
    Drama? Check.
    Insane ending? Check.

Nope... Talking to a casual who thinks a fighters stock goes up because he beat the man who beat the man which shows he knows nothing about boxing sort of rubs off on the better posters from time to time. Stop smoking that tweed and you'd maybe learn a thing about boxing, casual.

You're seriously disturbed. No idea why JV's stock going up after Ali schooled Cotto bothers you so much.

You're right, I never thought of it that way. Everybody ducked Valuev. He was a true giant killer.
