tall and big guys usually moves slow and if fighting a smaller opponent, and without good reflexes, he could be outjabbed.

Guys, i never caught the Adamek fight last night, was this win over Grant better than Haye's over Valuev??? I've never been into the heavyweights since Lewis and Tyson left the scene, so i'm no expert on the current crop, but for the last 2ish years i've kept my eye on them more frequently again. From the sounds of it and pics i've seen maybe a better win than Haye's? I haven't a clue who Grant is tbh... Is he better than Valuev? I'd love Adamek and Haye to lace them up...

Grant's most famous for going right at Lewis and getting flattened. He's a never was but a good measure of Adamek against a bigger man. But Haye's title winning performance was much more convincing technically against a better opponent.

Because Grant pushes the jab, he does not snap it, not to mention his reflexes are shot.

Please don't, I like to think you're better than that.

This is heavyweight boxing; sometimes you get dinged, and have to hold your hands up and admit it. Adamek got dinged good two or three times, got through it, won the fight. I hate it when people feel they have to do this bull**** 'he is invulnerable' stuff.

If Adamek was never hurt in that bout, went through the whole thing feeling the shots light as a feather with no pain and was never shook, I'm Ming the Merciless and I claim this forum in the name of Mongo.

    What?

While Haye against Valuev did exactly what? Other then break the record for the least amount of punches thrown in a HW title fight. He shoulda lost that fight, but he got a gift. He barely even deserved a draw.. Not a convincing effort at all.

Adamek clearly and decisively outpointed a game Grant to a wide UD, in a generally decent fight.

OK, I'm sure TA felt some heavy leather last night, but when I said he was never hurt, I guess I meant at the point where he was ready to go. He was never hurt badly. There, thats better.

    turbina:

Last night Adamek showed that he struggles with super heavyweight size, that he doesn't have the power to KO a HW with a questionable chin, that he is easy to hit and that he is hurt by true HW power. In other words he showed he has NO chance against the Klitschkos.

Against Valuev, Haye showed he could deal with THE super heavyweight and he hurt a HW with an iron chin. Whilst the Klitschkos are always going to be the favourites, Haye has enough speed and power to have some chance against them.

Adamek's may have won by a wider versus Grant but he was shown up. Haye did enough to win on the night against Valuev but, more importantly, he didn't show up any glaring weaknesses.

Reach is just a mesurment of wingspan, that's all. Being able to step in with jab means a lot, as does just being able to get past opponent by slipping or faking him, or just reacting faster to an opening.

Grant, like several others out there, never learned to properly snap the jab in the first place.... Grant owns a little snap to it, but not nearly enough.... Grant still pokes and paws too much trying to seek range.... Very few can actually pop a jab like "Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Tommy Hearns, Alexis Arguello, Ray Leonard and Micheal Spinks."

Because Grant is shot and never was that good, and hasn't been relevant since 2000 (When it was never very warranted).

Because a good jab requires more than just length and power, it requires the jabber to have sound foot work, timing, coordination and conditioning so that he can...a) always be in position to throw the punch b) be able to land the punch and c) have the fitness to keep those jabs in your opponents face all night.
