Broner would be too flat footed and have too low a work rate for him.

Postol would give him problems, but i think Hatton could overcome him. I'm not fully sold on Postol as others are.

Crawford's movement and unorthodox skills would cause Hatton problems, but could he out last Hatton. I haven't seen enough of Crawford at 140, particularly against someone with Hatton's attributes, to confidently pick a winner.

Ruslan would be a war, but he is too basic if Hatton fights smart (like he did against Malinaggi and also in his pre-Kostya days).

Stylistically, Matthysse may be his hardest fight. Lucas can box a bit. He's no Floyd, but you don't have to be to give Hatton trouble. He also hits hard, can take a punch and can fight at a good pace.

All things considered, Hatton would probably be top dog or there or there about, if he were fighting at 140 today.

    147? No chance.

    I agree with your post.

A Ricky Hatton at 140Ib and 147Ib are two different beasts.

Hatton made a mistake by fighting Floyd at 147Ib.

And this is the stick that Floyd gets. When people talk about him cherry picking opponents. He fought an awesome light-welterweight who was average at welterweight....AT welterweight. Just like he picked an overbloated Juan Manual Marquez, or a Oscar De La Hoya would looked far too skinny at light-middleweight to name a few.

    This is just dumb. ROFL.

Hatton was just as good , absolutely primed against Floyd in 2007. Horrible against Pac in 2009, already faded completely. After Floyd beat him up, Hatton claimed he could no longer take a punch because of that beating Floyd put on him.

Hatton was also an ex ww champion b4 Floyd got him. :hi:

Marquez was very healthy when he went up to 44, Floyd beat him so badly he did not want a rematch with Floyd in the future.

    No he wasn't though.

Ricky Hatton struggled against Luis Collazo to get the welterweight belt. Go watch the fight on youtube... which is the very reason he moved down to light-welterweight straight after the fight.

Then you look at his KO4 of Luis Castillo at light-welterweight.

Ricky Hatton was NOT a welterweight. He only fought twice at the weight. One in which is struggled against Collazo, and another who was a natural welterweight and bigger than him (Floyd).

And an EX champion b4 that confrontation in 2007. No way was Floyd going down to 140, a weight he hasn't fought in 2-3 years b4 2007.

I bet you rip on Hagler's win over Hearns because Hearns had never fought at 160 b4 that fight with Hagler. But in this case, Hatton actually did fight at 147 and was a champion there.

He was absolutely perfect, May was just way too much. Different classes, nothing to do with weight!

Floyd may have been more used to 147 because he had spent a longer time there, but he started his career at 130.

Why not? Ricky Hatton was the number 1 light-welterweight? He had the IBO, IBF, WBA, Ring Straps.

Floyd fought on his terms only, which was against a light-welterweight whose previous one and only bout at welterweight nearly turned out to be a disaster.

Why didn't Hagler go down to 154 for Hearns?

Hearns had the WBC/Ring titles as well b4 that fight.

Hatton was actually an ex title holder and Floyd came off of a 154 lb fight b4 then. You want him to go down 14 lbs 6 months later? :patsch

Nice try but even the biggest of Hatton fans know he wasn't half the fighter he was at 140 at 147. Mayweather beats him decisively no matter what weight they fight at but don't get it twisted, Hatton was a mediocre welterweight.

Kind of hilarious watching fans of Mayweather arguining their points over this.

"How could floyd go down in weight".

    "Floyd used to be 130Ib"

Which is it? Was floyd the small guy or the guy who would be drained at the weight?

Fact is, hatton was NOT a welterweight. End of story. And Floyd was naturally bigger than him at the weight. Floyd never went into the lions den when it came to boxing. it was the OTHER boxers that had to do it.

Juan Manual Marquez was a friggin lightweight who moved up to fight Floyd within months, then went back down to lightweight.

    A. I'm am MOST CERTAINLY NOT A FAN of Floyd Mayweather. I probably dislike him almost as much as you do.

    B. It's obvious that Mayweather never went into the lion's den. No question. There are no Margaritos and the like on his resume. But we are not discussing that. We are discussing Mayweather Hatton.

    C. Allow me to repeat my question. Did you and Hatton's other fans expect Mayweather to drop down to 140 to placate Hatton and his other fans as the fight was for Mayweather's 147 WBC strap? Please answer the question.
