How does a slender heavy like Wilder compare to other heavyweights that have had freakish power?

His height is his advantage as it gives him all that extra leverage. If it was just some regular 6ft3 guy at 210-220lbs (like some Monte Barrett type of frame) no way would he have that firepower.

Rangy, lanky heigh and length makes for a vicious puncher now matter the weight class.

He's built like a Tommy Hearns.

Though he lacks Hearns text book technique , he steps into his punches, commits, punches through the target and brings all his leverage to bear as he snaps like lightning.

Also, since we’re on the the subject of tall lanky guys that had monstrous right hands some honorable mentions would be Hein Ten Hoff, Jack Doyle (when he wasn’t drunk), Monte Munn, and Tony Tucker (before the drugs).

Tucker didn`t seem to punch as hard as Wilder though he couldn`t hurt Tyson.

Speed, explosiveness, timing, accuracy, leverage, range of motion, and his unorthodox style and unconventional form and angles he sometimes throws and lands at.

P4P his power reminds me of Joe Louis, Shavers, and a young and early Tyson -- back when he weighed 218 at the most, but he was built totally opposite Wilder and fought totally opposite.

Tucker’s right hand was broken going to the fight with Tyson, which Tucker admitted was his own fault and he was coming off a long drug binge after knocking out Douglas, which is why Tucker was pretty much a ruined fighter after 1987.
