Thats the only response needed to deal with such lower IQ boxing fans..are you saying Wlad threw 20 something punches per rnd on average???you posted that didnt you?
Yes actually, and I stand by it. I've been around boxing long enough to watch many fanboys washing egg from their face after they got carried away with muscle men in the past. Mike Williams, Micheal Grant, razor Ruddock. I held back reservations on Mike Tyson until he beat Berbick, even though I liked him before, for the simple reason the guys he fought before then were not elite. If you follow boxing long enough you will understand this. Even when your certain you need to see a bit more. Having won the fight with klit, josh will be better. I am certain. But We need to see him to decide how much better. Otherwise we are left with the green horn he was against old Wlad. I have been here before. And anyone else who has will understand this. It's all so very amusing when kids get carried away like this. It is inevitable. Often it separates the men from the boys.
Lol that was sent very early this morning after a heavy night John. I could barely see what I was putting. Still recovering!
I can't give an accurate "outcome" of the fights you have suggested Fergy, but Bruno was a better fighter than a lot give him credit for. He was as strong as an ox, even for a HW boxer, and had a punch to go with it. I have met Frank several times, and watched him sparring, and he could, and did, give any heavyweight in the world problems, even if only for the first few rounds. Even though Frank is a fellow Countryman, I did predict all of his losses, nearly to the round, and I said to people that Jumbo Cummings has a chance of catching him cold in the first couple of rounds. That was close! However, AJ is still untested as yet in my book. He has the tools to become a dominant champion, but it's still a little early yet. Give him five more meaningful matches, and that's what the real AJ will be all about.
Nice one raga. I to met big Frank himself many moons ago at a book signing he did. Only spoke to him a few minutes but a very warm respectable guy. U could say to nice for boxing!
My personal take on the Aj /Bruno fight s are.. As Aj stands now he could defeat witherspoon. Certainly no walk in the park but a hard, slugging type match but one that Josh wins by a narrow margin. Tyson is a different animal, aj could hurt him as Bruno did, but ultimately I see him being stopped somewhere in the seventh. Lewis of the Bruno ft was sluggish for the best part of the fight so I see a similar match to the Lewis /briggs brawl, with lennox being caught and hurt then blasting back in the sixth to ko Josh. Then finally mccall, that version didn't do a great deal till the last few rounds so I can see AJ doing some great work in there, peppering Oliver round after round. Mccall may start to come alive late on and the danger is then keeping out of the bulls big shots. He may rock aj several times now but I believe he struggle s through to get a wide unanimous. So I make Aj a 2 out of 4 winner. It is possibly to early to accurately say how he does against the 4 but I can confidently say he loses to tyson and Lewis but he more than likely beats witherspoon and mccall. But if he does lose to them, like Frank, he puts on a good showing.
In my opinion, the big question mark about Joshua is his stamina. If I were in Joshua's camp, the virtual shutdown, in the second half of round-5, and significant drop in output, in rounds 6-10, would be a serious concern. That he was able to gather himself and launch another major offensive in round-11 is to his credit but I think Witherspoon '86 finishes him in that time, as could McCall '95.
I think Witherspoon may beat him. He had a nice defence and Joshua may get gassed trying to finish him, with Witherspoon coming back later on and perhaps stopping Joshua. The rest I agree with.
It depends on which version of the "Terrible One" turned up. If it was the version that had teeth knocked out by Smith, then the AJ of today would have a chance of beating him. If it was the one who faced Holmes, then yes, I agree with you, with AJ fading towards the end, and getting finished big style ala the Bruno fight.
If it's the spoon version that beat Frank then I believe he's in with a good chance. That was Bruno s first title shot and he did really well up to the second half, aj already has experience of winning title fights, so he's going in with more confidence I reckon. He'll hit spoon and know when to pace him self. It's not a easy fight for aj and he could end up getting battered against Tim like Frank did. But I'm putting cards on the table and saying that I have faith in Josh to claim victory.
