Taking the Ali from the Liston fight and meeting Braddock how's he do up against Joe s challengers? Could he keep on defending with success for the same duration as the Brown Bomber?
I think its unlikely with his motormouth that he gets a titleshot. In louis time in the USA they were still hanging people of original skin tone for fun, sad to say. Ali might well end up like them.
I think Ali does very well, but might sustain a bit more wear and tear as he wasn't on the same level as Louis as a puncher or a finisher. At the same time he had the greater reflexes so might not take as much leather as Louis, despite him probably going more rounds. It's not out of the question that he goes undefeated. What I do doubt is Ali against Joe's pre title opposition, mainly due to how frequently he would have to fight and the quality of opponents he faced.
Schmeling would give Ali big problems and so would Conn although Ali would beat Conn because of his reach, by the time Ali faced Charles and Walcot I`d say he`d get beat.
He may have had some rough patches with Schmeling and Conn. Buddy Baer with his sheer size may have been somewhat of a problem opponent. Walcott would have the best chance of upsetting the apple cart
We'll assume that he tones it down a little until at least he wins the belt .But it's a sad thing to even consider ,having to change personality for the sake of not offending and risk getting lynched .Would hope Ali told the bigot's of the time to kiss his Ass .
