Ward is the only boxer who can ride something that happened five years ago. People are trying to make his accomplishment great when they truly are not. His best wins: Kessler had seen his best days already, Dawson was clearly weight drained, Ward beat Bika like he should have and he beat Abraham who still hasn´t won any elite level opponent at 168. He won against Froch, thats it. His wins happened in his hometown and there was so much controversy afterwards; dirty tricks like using head and forearms. He is good, I give him that but he is gets praised too much. Fighter who has skills like fanboys are saying, would not need to play dirty and use so much advantages. He hasn´t done anything to qualify as a top P4P fighter.
We know the reason, and it's not because of the reasons stated above. It's because of "other" reasons.
Still proves my point you fck. that you don't need to fight a bum when you are coming back from a long lay off, unless you consider JMM a bum And when he fought Ortiz he was out of the ring for 16 months.
That's because Floyd is the exception you ret ard, not the norm.:nut How many boxers do you know fights JMM level of opponent out of a long layoff? The last fighter I can think of to do something great was SRL against Marvin Hagler. I'm glad to know that you find Ward that special that you hold him to a standard not normally accorded to other boxers.
cheers for the info, don't know why I was under that impression. Holmes taking on Tyson after almost 2 years off is a solid one. Lennox fighting Vittles after a year off but that wasn't who Lennox signed to fight so it's not the same. Foreman/Moorer after 17 months off for George. But that's a completely different situation and we're really stretching things by saying Moorer is "JMM level" It's definitely EXTREMELY rare to jump up to world level in a comeback fight.
