How Does Anyone Really Believe Bute Could Trouble Ward?

I like Bute and think he is a good fighter, just like Froch and the other fighters of the Super 6 tournament. All these guys deserve respect in the first place for getting in the ring like men. But, I just don't see anyway in which Bute could come close to winning, outside of landing a lucky bomb.

One thing that Froch and Bute are VERY good at is measuring distance and keeping perfect distance for their punches effectiveness. That is one of Ward's best assets - the ability to close the distance and smother his opponents punches and jump back out.

For all of those people that really think Bute could trouble or even beat Ward, what is it that he brings to the table that any other fighter Ward has faced hasn't, or what does he possess that could really give Ward trouble? I just don't think he has the foot speed to give Ward any trouble at all.

That said, I think all of these guys are very good fighters, but I think Ward has the ability/talent to be special - once in a generation special and p4p king special.

Well, Bute did win a decision in a fight he was KO'd in, so that has to count for something.

A true 50/50 fight in which either fighter can turn the tide at any point IMO. Ward's edge in speed might make the difference.

The upcoming Froch fights should confirm this for whoever is not yet sold on Bute being A level. Wide UD's, maybe a stoppage.

Yes, Bute isn't as complete, but he's big, very fast, extremely powerful, and sneaky with his shots. Not an easy fight in my opinion. Not at all, but I think Ward would win a clear decision.

Bute is unlike any of these fighters, Ward has fought. I don't even see this as 50/50. Lucian would box him from the outside and then when Ward dropped his head and tried to rough up him up inside he would eat uppercuts.

Yes i believe he WILL trouble ward.

He's a legit 6'2 with a looong reach. He is much much much quicker, and needless to say much more technical than froch, and also has more single shot power. He's a very solid boxer with a good offense and tight defense.

His only weakness is that his chin is not solid....good thing ward has no real power.

I gotta favor Bute, but would love to see the American beat that ass in Montreal.

His uppercut is the only shot I feel really has a chance to be effective from his arsenal. But this is the whole point of my thread - Bute wouldn't box him from the outside Ward would be in and out all night long I feel and would just smother almost all of Bute's effectiveness. Basically, I don't think Bute has the foot speed or skill to keep Ward at range. What do you see in him that makes you think he can?

I wouldn't say that Bute is MUCH faster than Kessler. But when people are talking about Bute's speed it always seems to be his hand speed, you're not thinking about his foot speed which isn't substantially faster than anyone Ward has faced. That's the issue I feel.

Pistal47, is you really need a visual, imagine Bute feinting the right hook, Ward bracing up for a straight right lead, Bute smothers it and counters with a left hook to the liver. Possible?

For starters, athletically speaking, Bute looks like Sugar Ray Leonard compared to Froch...

Better overall skill set without a doubt besides the natural physical ability.

Some of you guys sound like you couldn't scout talent even if your life depended on it...

Bute is a smart fighter with serious skills and if he was that easy, trust me Ward would jump on that very big pay day in a second. They know what they'd get into...no walk in the park...

I think Bute has the tangibles to trouble Ward, I don't think he has the mind. He has a pretty one deminsional attack, I feel he would try to be a puncher and get coutnered and go back to his "boxing" which Ward would exploit to a comfortable decision win.
