Pac's resume and achievements are better than any of Mayweather's previous opponents and also Mayweathers.

    END THREAD. :deal:deal:deal

What if it's rigged remember there's a lot of money riding on a khan vs mayweather showdown in the fall

People criticize Floyd's recent record but he has fought several opponents like Oscar, Shane, Alvarez, Maidana that were coming off decent wins tournament style. Maybe taking on two Berto conquerors was redundant but Khan beating Collazo isn't that inspiring unless Khan just blitzes him (to remind us of the early trajectory of his career before the couple speed bumps).

are you serious? Thurman hasn't even fought for a title yet.

Amir Khan didn't get the Mayweather fight after beating Diaz because that was perceived as not doing enough. The same applies to Thurman

That wasent my question I asked what has maidana or khan done yes they've been on the elite level longer but they've also lost many times

Thurman would beat both on the same night

you have to prove your worth. It's not cool for Thurman, a prospect to get the fight because he's looked very good vs very mediocre competition.

It's like Mayweather fighting Canelo after Canelo beat Mosley. Yeah he's a good fighter and better than say Guerrero, but that's not enough.

When did you have to 'deserve' anything in boxing? How does Lomachenko 'deserve' a title shot in his 2nd pro fight? How does Peterson 'deserve' to still have his IBF belt after losing to Matthysse? There's countless of instances in boxing that you can use to disprove the notion that you have to 'deserve' anything.

So, beating Ortiz is now irrelevant? How about Collazo's close fights with Hatton and Berto? Where you can make a big claim that he won both of those fights. Hatton got a shot at Mayweather by beating Collazo. Berto, was the final fight for both Guerrero and Ortiz. Guerrero himself skipped the 140lb division and gained his shot.

As for Pacquaio, we know it can't happen, so why bring it up? If we are to use your logic. How did Marquez, Bradley and Rios deserve a shot at Pacquaio? Marquez had been thoroughly schooled by Mayweather and had been knockdown in that fight. He then had a back and forth war with Katsidis, before fighting Ramos at lightweight. Yet, he skipped the 140 division and got a shot at a welterweight title against Pac. Bradley didn't fight Khan at the time[he wasn't ducking him], then went on to fight a shopworn Casmayor and then got his shot. Rios was coming of a loss to Alvarado.

I think Khan could be shot too, but if he looks good against Collazo and beats him. How does that not make him 'deserve' a Mayweather shot? When past opponents got a shot by beating similar opponents or got a pass for skipping divisions to get their shot. If you dislike Khan that's fine, but at least try to be fair in your argument.

Who should someone beat to get a Mayweather fight? Everyone at 147 are bums, pay their absolute peak, green...ect Do you have to beat Pac? Well that won't happen with all the in house fights.. Who a fighter have to beat to deserve a fight? If they don't win, does Mayweather just not fight anyone because no one is worthy? I don't get it...

The short answer is, by Mayweather's previous standards, Khan is deserving assuming he beats Collazo. By the standards of most boxing fans, Mayweather should be fighting someone better like Pacquiao, Martinez, Lara, etc.

Floyd has said he doesnt wnat to go back to 154 again so soon. He knows that is not his strong weight class. So at 147 if the Pac fight can't be made waht is he to do? He can't fight any TR fighters. And that leaves the untested fighters of the world(Porter, Thurman etc) and the veterans who really aren't that extravagant(Khan, Collazo etc). Who does he fight then?
