I love boxing and IMO you can't compare the 2, boxing is the ultimate test of a man. But all I hear at work these days is about the UFC, at the pub it's the same. 2 if my mates now train man love (jujitsu) 2 nights a week instead if coming to boxing with me. The shits taking over

3 shows in 3 years, it is taking over. zero fighters doing anything in Australia, Paulie just got payed $300 000 to fight in ukraine, boxing is in olympic's, there is fights getting payed tens of thousands and million all round the world, Japan,england,Germany,USA,Mexico, the list goes on, there is over 20 000 pro fighters around the world, I grew up with this sport.

True. But Boxing is not as strong or as popular as it once was, and more importantly, as it could and should be.

UFC and boxing can co exist. It's not so much boxing learning lessons from UFC, but the fact that the UFC learned from the mistakes that have been made in boxing.

As far as popularity goes, boxing obviously still reigns supreme, however the UFC is tapping into an entire generation that doesn't give a **** about boxing. Time will tell, but that could be the key.

 

I go the Pig N Whistle in Brisbane to watch both UFC and Boxing.

The UFC gets a decent consistency of followers each and every time, where-as boxing is relying on two fighters to pack the place out.

Pac Marquez 3 was the busiest I had ever seen it. Totally ridiculously packed. Got there 1 hour early and still couldn't get decent view of the big screen. It'll be similar this week when Floyd fights Cotto.

Last Sunday for Hopkins v Dawson about 5 people (including me and my mate) were there.

 

Agree with Mundine V Green 2 would bring Oz boxing back but only for a short time, geale has the ability to bring boxing back in Oz main-stream but he can't keep fighting in taz, when or if he gains another title he will be recognized by main stream media, he just has to cause a upset preferably in the US other than geale we have no one else .... Dibb is a contender no Aussie likes, some Aussies need to step up and soon !!!!

The money isnt here to lure overseas fighters,could also say that whose boxing record is actually worth getting over here for aswell as titles.It seems our best can only lure b-grade international fighters.There are a couple of decent fighters and belts around but i'm sure they would be happy to 'hold on' to their titles as long as they can eg fight bums!Can anyone remember when we were on top of things with boxing here,any era or time,Does anyone remember when the likes of famachon,etc were around,big shows top draw cards........
