    Kostya Tszyu
    Alexis Arguello
    Frankie Randall
    Roger Mayweather

    at 147
    Carlos Palomino
    Pipino Cuevas
    Miguel Cotto
    Cory Spinks

I'm not sure Buddy loses to any of these guys, but I think the fighters most likely to beat him are Randall and Palomino due to workrate, and Tszyu, Arguello and Cuevas due to landing a heavy shot that takes him out. Buddy did have a good chin though, so I'm not sure that ever eventuates.

If forced, I'd say he probably beats them all, though I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose to a few as well.

Does Buddy sweep this field or does he lose to them all? Something in between?

don't get me wrong I like Buddy, but I think he is portrayed as better than what my memory would recall??? IMO!!!

    2-2 at 140
    kostya by KO in 10
Arguello by wide decision 10-5 or 8-4
    UD over Randall
and a close decision (MD or SD?) and possibly a draw w/ mayweather

1-3 at 147 w/ the lone win coming against spinks

    Just my take

According to Teeto, Castillo beats him.

I'd say at 140 he takes Randall, Arguello, and the other two make for good fights, but I'd take him over Mayweather. The Tszyu fight would be very interesting. I think in his prime Buddy just had a very difficult, unorthodox, slick style. I'd probably take Tszyu though.

At 147 he beats Spinks, probably outpoints Cuevas(possibly gets finished off though), and I might favor Cotto. Tough call with Palomino. I might take Palomino there, but Buddy was very slick, and we've seen Palomino outslicked before.

Kostya Tszyu: LM15 (6-9); Tszyu turns it on in the championship rounds to outhustle McGirt after after 12 edgy rounds.

Alexis Arguello: LU15 (6-9); McGirt struggles with Arguello's height early on, and Arguello keeps hold of that edge.

Frankie Randall: WU15 (9-6); Randall loses a technical battle.

Roger Mayweather: TKO14; The Black Mamba is in it for 10 rounds, before McGirt turns it on late.

    at 147

Carlos Palomino: LS15 (7-8); Palomino guts out some tough moments to edge a razor thin decision.

Pipino Cuevas: TKO8; McGirt survives the early onslaught to gain control by the fourth, breaking Cuevas down.

Miguel Cotto: WU15 (9-6); Cotto gives McGirt too much respect.

Cory Spinks: WU15 (12-3); Spinks is outboxed in a Buddy masterclass.

IMo Cotto would get schooled badly by Buddy

it would be worse than Simon Brown fight as Cotto is so one-paced.

At 140 I'd pick Buddy over each by decison... Arguello and Tszyu would be very interesting fights. I think Buddy would edge them...
    At 147.
I think Buddy could decison Palomino...and possibly Cuevas too...
McGirt beats Corey Spinks with his excellent right counter...Cotto? I really like Cotto, he showed some good versatile skills against Mosely...I'll go out on a limb, and pick Cotto by decision...
McGirt 7-1 on my count...I'm not really comfortable with some of those picks though....:think

    ud over tszyu
ud over arguello (at 140 arguello was not the same)
    split decision over randall.
tko 11 over mayweather (buddy was not a big hitter but hit hard enough for roger imo).

at 147 mcgirt was a faded force from what i remember.

palomino would pressure him to the limit imo,.....but wins a close decision.

cuevas was not educated enough and loses a UD.

cotto would break him down and stop him late.

    spinks??? a snorebore draw.

Nice points T, but why do you think Buddy struggles with Arguello's height early? He sure didn't struggle with Simon Brown's height.

The way I see it too Mantequilla. And it's the same reason I give Buddy a good chance of beating Tszyu as well. Though I give Tszyu a better chance of landing a killer blow. Otherwise I see him fighting at the pace Buddy enjoys and getting outslicked.

The right hand will be a good weapon here for Buddy. He had an excellent one, better than Mosley's (and he had better defense than Mosley too).

Buddy was still quite good for a few years at welterweight, especially around the time he beat the likes of Patrizio Oliva and Simon Brown. It's that McGirt that I'm considering here.

He might beat them all, i mean he won like 5 rounds off whitaker. Some had it 6-5-1.

Arguello uses his height to his advantage, unlike Brown. Arguello tended to be a slow starter (as was McGirt) but Arguello's physique IMO would cause Buddy trouble early, before he (McGirt) gets going.
