He wasn't a shell, he was the same old Chico. He was just in with a guy who could not only box but was actually the same size as him. Gasp..the horror.

A SD loss to Casamayor, that may have been a slight improvement over his SD win over Casa. Course he had a weight advantage this time.

Funny, how Mayweather is the only fighter who should be credited for beating the limited Chico. He lost all these fights once he hit the big time despite being so young. Maybe he just wasn't that good. He certainly didn't beat anybody that good before Mayweather.

    So let's review...

For all this talk of Clottey being a gate keeper and B level fighter, he has done a fine job of matching Mayweather's best wins. Not as impressive as May of course.

But he beat Judah and....the "Great" Corrales.

And as I recall, quite a few May fans on here were trying to convince us that Clottey was robbed against Cotto. I know Cisco Route/Nay Sayer did.

BTW, Clottey was beating Baldomir before he was DQed. It was complete BS, and I'm sure before it became about Pac vs May, most here would agree Clottey was robbed.

Dude a Corales 3/4 division's above his best, Judah coming off a KO loss and suspension, and Cotto coming off a KO loss with no trainer.
You can't just throw out name's without looking at circumstances sirrounding fight's.

Different version of Corrales than Floyd fought. And he got a good break in the Judah fight. I agree on the Baldomir fight.

No. A fully mature Corrales who was no longer draining himself to make Super Feather, and now that he wasn't killing himself to make weight was actually doing better against a guy who previously blew him out in Super Feather.

A Judah coming off two wins actually.

    Lets talk about May's circumstances.

A 23 year old Corrales with no world class experience struggling to make Super Feather in a 5'10+" 70" wingspan frame

A Judah coming off a loss...and yes, had also previously been knocked out once upon a time.

A Cotto who had suffered two brutal stoppage losses, had switched trainers. Fighting 2/3 weight classes above his best as you say.

yet MANY had Corrales as the favorite. it was a close 50-50 type pick em.

What is so different about him? It's a better win for Floyd to be sure, giving he had to covercome the size. But the variable here, is that Corrales had to fight someone his size instead of a rehydrating agianst a Super Feather or Lightweight.

How was it a good break? He was winning the fight, he won the fight. Judah was getting beat up.

Because Corrales was HUGE. Again, I'm not taking away from May's performance.

Just calling into question the idea that Clottey beat a worse version of Corrales. Corrales was the same, his normal size advantage wasn't.

And in turn, Clottey is being undersold as a very good win for Pac.

Clottey beats all of Floyd's past WW opponents including Mosley.

I've always thought that he'd be a horrendous styles matchup for Shane.

I disagree. he was never active enough to be Shane. Even Shane in 2010 would be too quick for Clottey

Clottey's resume is much worse than the three fights that everyone seems to remember him by (L Cotto, W Corrales, W Judah). Beyond those, the only real bright spot was having a clear edge over Baldomir before getting awkwardly DQ'd for grinding his head against Baldomir's in clinches. Oh, and beating up Anthony Mundine last year.

Highly overrated resume even if he could have beaten many WW's on a good night during his early 30's.

He's a guy who didn't accomplish as much as he did seemingly because of lack of promotional opportunities and support.

    Corrales - 130 prime, 1999-2001

    Clottey - 147 prime, 2007-2009

    They fought in 2007.

Stop it! This type of common sense isn't liked around here. It helps destroy arguments and agendas.
