So the story is that Cotto's moving up to 154 to fight Yuri Foreman on June 12.

How do you see this fight going and how do you see Cotto doing in the division?

Apart from Arum's influence, I don't understand why he's doing this. I've never heard any reports of him struggling at the 147 weight, a weight which suits him very well, and serves a decent handful of competition.

I can't help but think Cotto's career has been mis-managed. Fight after fight his people have been matching him with tough and dangerous opposition. His career has been set at 100 mph for a very long time, and have not allowed him to be paced to his benefit.

I'd like to see him take a one or two comfortable bouts before attempting another great fight. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him against a Ricky Hatton, especially with the rumour circulating that the Hitman will venture back in to the 147 zone.

    I think he'll beat Foreman.

Martinez would probably beat him, but it'd be competitive and I wouldn't be surprised if he won.

    Williams beats him.

Idk. foreman, like martinez, aren't considered big punchers, but both are fast enough to catch guys and i'm talking very sturdy fighters like williams and santos, both conquerors of margarito, and both supposedly "light hitting" fighters almost ko'd the hell out of them! foreman reminds alot of DLH he isn't slick, but very fast and very good technical wise good with the jab and moving around the ring keeping it at a distance. i think foreman is getting overlooked.

i would prefer cotto fight someone less dangerous like a spinks or anyone else than throwing him in there with a new champion that's still trying to make a name for himself. there is also the question as to if cotto will lose any speed or pop in his punches at this heavier weight. this may turn out to be another sturm-delahoya

Cotto would not do well at 154. He is not even a particularly big welterweight IMO, he looked small when was in with Margarito and didn't look as strong as Clottey or Pacquiao either.

I think he beats Spinks and Foreman.
    I favor Martinez.
It's a toss up against Dzinziruk.
    And an edge to Williams.

Cotto is on the small side for a WW really, I think he should not move up to 154lbs where his power will be even further brushed off by opponents

Personally I think he should fight Jan Zaveck, the new IBF title holder.

But this fight is not so bad.

I think he would struggle at 154 for the same reasons Hatton would struggle at 147 and Juan Diaz would struggle at 140. His style is predicated on being able to bully guys a bit, and he's never really learned how to close the gap well on a longer fighter who can punch from the outside because he's never needed to learn it.

IMO he is a little too short and small for jmw...hes not a good enough pure boxer to hang with the top guys at that division (who are all pretty much boxers and much taller/longer than him), so when your not as skillful and your smaller, that usually doesnt equate to much success...his heart may get him a few wins but i dont see him fairing particularly well.

he was never a big time power puncher (@WW) , and has taken to arm punching over the last few fights...he will lose all his power at JMW
