By that i mean, if a prime Forrest and any modern WW-LMW were in a fight who would you favour? yes he schooled Mosley, but he got schooled by Mayorga, twice. plus Mora beat him clearly in the first fight. so how should he be remembered?

The man who had Mosley's number...IMO Shane is a better fighter but Vernon stole his light...Shane could fight him 100 times and he would lose 100 times...As a person u gotta remember Vernon for what he did outside the ring...

BUT as a fighter I'll never forget the first time he knocked the **** outta mosley...If he were fighting today I would love to see him and Paul go at it or even him and Martinez...He could prove to be a top 154 lb fighter as he was before his passing..EXCELLENT PERSON AND FIGHTER....HOF BOUND??

Vernon had a sizzling jab, but he wasn't a disciplined fighter and it was really easy to get him to stray from his fight plan. He had top level skill, but after his injury and surgery he was never the same again.

Mayorga was a different beast alltogether at his best, and presents a different kind of fighter then anyone out there right now.

If we are talking the forrest that was at 147, not the old 154lb version that lost to mora

Forrest vs Mayweather - Forrest UD
Forrest vs Cotto - Forrest UD or TKO
Forrest vs Mosley - Forrest UD
Forrest vs Collazo - Forrest UD
Forrest vs Clottey - Forrest UD
Forrest vs Berto - Forrest UD
Forrest vs Margarito - Forrest UD

forrest had the ability, size, intelligence and overall skills to beat everyone out there right now, i think his biggest problem would come against the 154lbers

Kirkland * For his complete aggression, which is Forrests weakness imo, size, strength and power
    Williams * Size, aggression, workrate

i would also add that i would pick Mayorga at his best, at 147, over a lot of those guys too..... Mayorga and Forrest, when healthy, in shape, and at 147, were no joke.

On top of his game id have him top 3 today without a shadow of a doubt , imagine what Forrest on top of his game would have done to Cotto , Marg , Clottey and co , this guy was the real deal when he was 100% !!!!!!!

Vernon was a great man inside and out of the ring, he would be great in any era, but I'm sick of people improving "after" they pass away, he was a style fighter, he could dominate some and be dominated by others, his adaptability is a C- at best!

As one of the best welterweights of his era and the man who had Sugar Shane's number. I also agree, like Erik Morales, was a highly skilled fighter that could get lured into brawls and that could fight off his jab and had a mammoth right hand, whether is was an overhand or uppercut which he'd loop and resemble a heavyweights.

Even past his prime or pretty much after his accident he didn't bounce off his toes as much, but he retained the power in his right hand. If not for his untimely departing,I think he still had enough gas for one more great fight. Perhaps vs. Williams or Martinez. He probably might of had one more surprise for us all like he had when he shocked many with his victory over Sugar Shane.

A beast. In his prime, could possibly beat everyone at welter now.

i'd fancy floyd to UD him in a very very borin fight.
i think pac would confuse him with his angles much the same way that mayorga did.

but if he performs like he did vs mosley an baldomir he'd be right up there with the best, he'd easily be too strong for corey spinks, and i could see him outpointin clottey and bein too strong for cotto

As good as any of his peers between 147 and 154lbs. Fanstatic fighter who was avoided by a lot of the top names as being way too risky.

Credit to Shane for taking him on twice.

    RIP
