The General impression I get is that Froch fans are riding the hope that Bute isn't as good as he seems to be, and the overriding opinion is that if Bute is as good as he seems, then Froch has no chance. Would you agree with this? Where are the holes in his game that Carl Froch can exploit. What areas does Froch have the advantage in, and how does he press that advantage home?
Yes I think you have summed it up nicely. Even though I am a Froch fan overall; this was the same kind of thinking that his more hardcore fans had before the Ward fight. It's even similar to the build up to the Hatton-Mayweather fight or whenever England play a superior team in football. You can't just go in with that 'we can get at them' or 'we work harder' mentality. Carl is inferior in every technical aspect, people will of course question Bute's balls but if Froch has any chance he needs Bute to exert alot of energy early on. This should of been the plan against Ward, he ended up tiring towards the end but because Carl let him coast so much early on, Ward was never really in trouble of being stopped. This I think is his only chance, cut of the ring quickly being careful of Bute's counters to the body and make the champion work. Test his Stamina.
With High work-rate pressure and luring him into exchanges. Best case scenario I see for Froch is when he gets reckless and wild Bute takes a few decent shots at him gets confident and starts to trade with him ignoring a little or totally his defense at that point both guys starting to land good shots turning it into a war like Gatti-Ward. Froch can't afford a late start in this one, he needs to pressure Bute and not let him rest. I think this is a less difficult fight for Froch than Ward was. Bute is talented but he isn't as tricksy as Ward. Can't wait.
Whilst accepting Bute is the favourite, this is far from a gimmee for the visitor. People may be forgetting that Andrade had him out on his feet, another 15 seconds in that fight and we would be watching a man who had a ko defeat on his record, that is without doubt. He can be hurt, he is no where near as elusive as people seem to be making out, Magee whilst losing showed the man can be hit and even a little one paced to be honest, he was not overly impressive against Magee, if you can close your eyes to the body punching which was impressive, in all fairness. His level of comp has not been that great either, he looks very very good, I am in total agreement with that, however, it would be very very interesting if Froch can land clean early and make him think about the attacking side of his game, if he can achieve some success early, then this could be a very winnable fight for the British fighter.
Froch will have plenty of openings against bute I just hope he let's his hands go when they come, he'll wanna keep out the way of butes uppercut also as ward was able to land that punch quite a bit.
I think he has to force the pace, keep a high workrate and try and make it a brawl. Froch has more experience in tough fights and can win a war, the danger here is he could get outboxed in the process. I think itll be a tight fight, but im edging towards Bute winning a decision. I think alot of people are making the mistake that because Bute has never fought someone as good as Froch before, that means he cant win...
He's not especially good at either of those things, added to the fact he's not much of a puncher at the top level. I think he gets completely outclassed and battered in the middle portion of the fight. I expect he'll close better, but he'll do no better than against Ward.
He'll have more chance to land against Bute than Ward, trouble is that what's coming back is a lot more dangerous. The scenario I see playing out is a much more closely contested fight than vs Ward but with Froch being badly stunned at various points and possibly stopped. Either way I have Bute a clear but not massive favourite.
not opening himself up to uppercuts as much as he can would be a start as well as stalking and feinting him into positions against the ropes that bute is uncomfortable then unloading 2/3's. that said, i dont think froch can win this fight
Do what Andrade did, just make sure the ref can count to 10 this time! Seriously tho, he has to do what he did against Abe. High guard, long jab and the straight right hand behind it. On the inside, work the body to slow Bute down
