I don't see any way he could have won. Look at each round , Calzaghe lands the better exchanges, puts his punches together quicker and lands more frequently... look at the final punch numbers... and i dont know what hopkins was thinking when he took a knee from that "mysterious" shot that hit an inch below the belt

His personality doesn't allow for the finer quality of admitting one's losses

he felt he was never hurt, thought he landed the cleaner shots, knocked joe down. his corner was telling him he was doing great. Everything around him told him and made him think he was winning. problem is, he wasn't. its far differentfor the fighter than the spectator.

But Joe doesn't exactly score points in this category after not really giving Hopkins credit for the knockdown in the 1st.

Perhaps Hopkins was depending on his girlfriend Byrd?

    Fights arent won by boxrec.

I had Joe winning 114-113 and you can go check out my post as to how I saw it. But there were 4 rounds you could easily argue for both men. I gave Joe 3 of those....so if you are wondering how someone can give it to Bernard...its that they had the close rounds going to him on clean punching.

Im more confused at the people seeing it 9-3 Joe...or 10-2 even. THAT is ridiculous.

Hopkins is having memory issues at his age, he probably thought it was some other fight.
