The fight was pretty close, I had Joe ahead by two points at the end. Hopkins landed the cleaner harder blows, alot of the punches Joe was throwing werent being landed, many of which were blocked by Hopkins gloves. Pretty tough fight to score, but Joe did just enough to win IMO.

He was noncommittal about giving hopkins credit for it. His answer danced around and wasn't upfront. He didn't lie but he was underhanded about it and his words and mannerisms detracted from the significance of the KD.

Well sh*t, he still won the fight on two cards. How significant was the KD really?

It's going to be most significant on forums, where someone will gif it and post it ad nauseum just to take the steam out of Calzaghe nuthuggers.

to make a case for Hopkins. . he dominated both ring generalship and the cleaner harder more effective punches.

i still have JC winning the fight by 2 rounds. He pressed the fight and out hustled Hopkins. Shame on B-HOP for not standing up to the sissy slapping. He should have pressed forward and sat down on his punches making JC move backwards.

Every time he pressed forward with his head down, as Manny pointed
out, Joe just stepped back and flurried causing Hopkins to retreat into
the ropes or cower in the corner as Joe pummelled him with rapid shots
and danced away or got hugged by Hopkins. Joe gave up alot of his
advantages by constantly pressuring the counterpuncher but Joe
wanted to force the action like the true warrior he is.

Manny is an idiot. He doesnt know how to teach defense. Look at all of his fighters throughout his career and now. Hopkins keeps his chin tucked when he fights to lessen the amount of punishment he takes from any given punch.

And how Manny kept saying for Joe to catch Bernard off balance....WTF??? I have watched Bernard's entire career multiple times and I think I have seen him off balance MAYBE a handful of times.

Manny needs to go learn defense....and the difference between tucking your chin and dropping your head.

Perhaps Hopkins thought it was a boxing match not a pater cake competition.

Are you implying that Hopkins has nothing to learn from these paragons of defensive wizardry?

Seriously, the entire HBO crew can suck a fat one for their "work" tonight. Kells got railroaded by Lamps and couldn't formulate an independent thought to save his life. Steward was clearly suffering from big fight withdrawal syndrome. Lampchops was doing his best phantom punch calls.

This fight was way too technical for the HBO squad. We needed Bernstein terribly tonight.

This fight was called TERRIBLY tonight. It seemed in all honesty, the only one coming close to calling it well was Kellerman....which speaks volumes on how terrible the others were.

I guess Hopkins could learn a thing or two from Cintron about the shoulder roll. Like how to position yourself perfectly for taking shots to the liver and to the side of the head:lol:

Good call on Bernstein, much more knowledgable than Kellerman or Lampley. He could have explained everything going on in there from a technical standpoint. HBO creates excitement better than Showtime, but overall, I don't consider Kellerman or Lampley experts. Steward knows his boxing, but isn't a great commentator by any means.

maybe because he thinks clinching and holding is enough to win him rounds. imo joe won the fight convincingly

Well he seems to have made a defensive genius out of one Wlad
Klitschko. Nobody has been able to get near that vulnerable chin
in years and that "idiot" Manny is the reason why.

Wlad's defense is the jab. His defense other than that is terrible at best. If he gets hit, he holds...give me a break dude.

    You just proved my point.

Now again, Manny is a jackass.
