How does it affect your opinion of a fighter when he can't admit a loss?

I was a pretty big fan of Juan Diaz before the fight with Malignaggi. He lost to campbell but fought his heart out and never quit trying. Ditto with Marquez

But when he got completely and utterly schooled by Paulie, he didn't have the balls to just admit it. He instead made a lame attempt at justifying a crooked decision. **** him

How do you guys feel about fighters who just can't take the truth?

It doesn't seem like many elite sportsmen are able to concede a loss. I take it as a given that fighters will find excuses, but I have a lot of respect for the fighter that can say he was the beaten by the better man on the night

I honestly believe some fighters don't think they've lost even when it's clear. I wouldn't find it easy to accept I'm beatable if everyone and their dog was saying "You d' best champ!" So for that reason it doesn't effect my opinion of them.

I lost a lot of respect for Chavez when he accepted the robbery of Taylor without petitioning the decision and giving Taylor the win he deserved.

that's a good point. roy jones said that was part of the reason he dumped his dad because as a fighter you need to believe you're the best and unbeatable and any negative attitude can ruin that. still, guys like leonard had the guts to say when they lost. even arreola, who have almost no respect for, is pretty classy in defeat

I gain respect for a fighter when he can hold his hands up and say "Yeah I lost" I think that shows a degree of integrity. However like I said I don't lose respect for fighters for thinking their unbeatable.

i don't any fighter to petition the decision but instead of giving an immediate rematch to the fight of the decade, he waited until taylor was shot to ****

to be honest i can understand in the heat of the moment when comments are made. like froch vs kessler, you can understand the frustration knowing something as trivial as location has cost you your belt.

but what i dont like is after the dust has settled. froch never really gave kessler credit for beating him. and i didnt like that.

regarding that one fight, it is a long line of excuses. i expect him to beat AA so hopefully excuses wont come into play.

what I hate more that not admitting a loss is admitting it but making excuses for why you lost after you've talked all kinds of **** in the lead up to the fight. I'm talking to you Allan Green.

Depends entirely on how close the fight actually was. Have seen plenty of fighters admit losing.
