Protect his right side instead of trudging through shots like Solomon Grundy for one: Then; use his jab to parry Zhang's right, nullifying it. Circle to Zhang's right keeping his lead foot outside of Zhang's lead foot then throw his own right hand to Zhang's body/chest. Do this for 7 rounds and believe in his stamina (which is proven) over Zhang's and go all out in the late rounds.
Joyce was losing the fight in terms of the rounds fought up until the stoppage but people are acting like he was knocked out and not in the fight at all. He looked basic and had no answer for the left hand of Zhang's that was landing at will but he was still throwing and I'm sure he was having an effect on Zhang for the second half of the fight. Not saying Joyce was looking like he was on the way to winning if the ref let it go on. I just think he can get his head right for a rematch, find some way of not getting clobbered with the left hand from the first 20 seconds of the fight and take part in the competitive fight it has always been on paper.
I didn't see Joyce win a round, so...no how. I think he's shooting himself in the foot if he chooses to exercise the rematch clause, in more ways than one. (first off, he's setting himself up for consecutive losses and only further denigrating his name value, instead of pivoting to a different opponent like a Ruiz or Parker while he can still command a decent payday against them...and secondly, his promoters, the Warrens/Queensberry, have sounded pretty frosty on the idea of him selfishly disrupting the mooted Fury vs. Zhāng despite acceding that it's "his choice ultimately")
Agreed though easier said than as Zhang is a southpaw sharp shooter with good boxing skills, ring IQ and size.
Stick and Move while making Zhang miss. Do that for 5 rnds and then start upping output as Zhang gas. He will win on point or get the stoppage.
If he doesn't move his head, he would struggle against most decent fighters, let alone Zhang. It's all very well, walking forward & taking everything been thrown at you, acting like you're invincible, but it has to take it's toll at some point.
Joyce wouldn't have to do too much to beat Zhang. It's funny, everyone keeps talking about how bad Joyce's defense is, but Zhang's is just about as bad. Zhang didn't move his head either and his defense consists of standing dead still with his hands up, absorbing shot after shot. Like I said Zhang can't box and Joe could easily win a rematch. But then again, Joyce can't box either so it is what it is.
Zhang dominated Joyce from the opening bell it was not competitive at any point, the referee did Joyce a favour saving him from getting KO'ed eventually.
Foreman was pretty slow in his comeback but he had very good timing, ATG jab, cross arm defence, high IQ for boxing. And yet there were people on this forum saying Joyce was the next coming of Foreman, yet Joyce has none of the attributes above nor Foreman's thudding power.
There shouldn't even be a rematch honestly, the very idea of it absent the clause would be absurd. ZZ has limited time in the game and bigger fish to fry than a repeat engagement with somebody he shut out and stopped (whether considered an upset in real-time or no).
He needs to cover up better coming forward a bit like Arthur Abraham’s peekaboo style. Also double and triple up the jab. He was finishing off combinations with a left hook to zhangs body which I thought we’re taking there toll, can see him having success with that shot again agree with someone who already mentioned that Joyce vs whyte would be a good fight
