How does Joshua hope to win rounds against Usyk, if he struggled against Povetkin?

Khan is a better boxer than Canelo.

Could have scored a shutout, IF...

    Canelo didn't catch him eventually.

    Same with Pov and AJ.

Pop was a better boxer and could have realistically won a decision, BUT...

for getting caught by AJ's power.

Usyk is younger, more skilled and more athletic than Pov.

But he needs to be even more cautious than Pov in that he can't take the kind of Shot Pov can walk through, and he doesn't have the power to keep AJ honest.

AJ did not struggle with Povetkin. He KO'd his as$ halfway through the distance.

The fact that he was trailing at the time of stoppage means no more than Amir being ahead when Canelo stopped him, or Herbie Hyde bing the only man to be ahead of Vitali at the end of any round in his career.

The Usyk AJ bout will be interesting if/when it comes.

As of now, my money would be on the big guy.

No need to worry about Joshua when he has to get past Bellew first.

whats Olympic gold medalist got to do with it? usyk was a gold medalist himself... Joshua won his medal because of the Olympics on gb soil. any netral site Joshua would of been walking out with a bronze at best.

Well then, Chenko won the title in his 9th pro fight. Still impressive, but...

No, that is just the opinion of Lomachenko haters, we are going by what is official, and he won it in his 3rd pro fight and tied a record. You have to deal with that, and also with the fact that Lomachenko is p4p #1.

Parker more likely only won 1 round than 'easily 5-6'.....

Neither landed much, so the aggressor which was Joshua took the rounds.

Even Parker's judge could only give him 1 round.

What I am getting from this is Uysk beats Joshua because Povetkin doesn't punch very hard and he's proved his chin will take HW punches by taking punches at CW. And 'ergo' is too try-hard...

FYI I rate Uysk - his skill are elite, that is beyond question - but until he's actually had a HW fight I'm going to reserve judgement on how he would cope with AJ.

One has never fought in the heavyweight division but is the new " ATG" at Heavyweight according to some noobs here ...........let him face some Heavies first and then we go from there.

Povetkin is nothing but a Red Army Hype job hiding in Russia.......who the F did he ever beat, a shot to shid Byrd?Rahman, going life and death with cream puffs Huck/Chambers..........he sucks and always sucked, he showed his level when facing glass chinned WK.............a guy who was walked down by with no finesse by Purity and Brewster, blitzed by the ultimate flash in the pan Golfer and getting pushed to the limit by C level cave man Peter.

It was a foregone conclusion that AJ would beat the Russian Dough boy, roids or not, he is a never was.

AJ's best wins are now two pensioners, a couple of heavy bags with tids on them and a tame Samoan with no fighting spirit.

But the fight made it crystal clear why the Wilder fight has not been made...........AJ is wiiiiddddeeee open for the right hand and that cannot be corrected at this stage of his career, maybe for the opening rounds but then he is falling right back to it and that will be his un doing against Wilder, you can bank on it.

If Wilder would be strictly a left hooker that fight would have been made a long time ago.

This. If Bellew connects flush on Usyk it'll be all over. Bellew is a much better fighter than either Gassiev or Briedis. If Usyk can't handle Bellew he doesn't belong anywhere near Joshua.

Yeah, this is the best point to argue Usyk could beat AJ. I also had that a 6/6 match, though I was apparently in the distinct minority. And I agree Usyk is better than Parker in most every way. I think AJ wins, but yeah, Parker is the roadmap and since he could at least keep it close, its reasonable to think Usyk has a chance.

Well so did IB, so along with me having it for a point to Parker, you're in distinguished company.:sisi1 And a shout out to @Nonito Smoak about the only other guy that saw that match for what it really was. My one and only concern is if Usyk doesn't get multiple knockdowns, they'll rob him blind, and all of the sleazy fanboys, like with Canelo, will scream from the rooftops it was a legit win.

You back from a month long ban or something? Usyk hasn't shown us **** against top 10 heavyweights. People like you are speculating like you are madly in love with the Ukrainian. Yes he's skilled, but he's done not a thing against any top 10 heavyweights. Povetkin on the other hand was himself and Olympic Gold Medalist. He was a pretty good fighter in his prime, and still is a solid heavyweight. Beating Breidis, and the Russian Abraham, means absolutely nothing in regards to how Usyk would fair at heavyweight.

Does Usyk want Bellew to come down to cruiserweight?

I find it funny that all of Usyks fans believe that he can topple the top heavyweights and yet Usyk still hasn't signed up to a heavyweight fight. Usyk at this stage, is not as keen to fight a heavyweight as his fans seem to believe.

'Despite the fact that both fighters’ promoters seem to prefer it at heavyweight, Tony Bellew’s preferences might mean that a potential fight with undisputed world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk takes place in that division.

From Eddie Hearn at Sky Sports:

“I told Usyk’s team that a fight would have to be [at heavyweight] because that’s where Tony is now, and he feels good. Tony told me: ‘I want to fight him at cruiserweight because I want all the belts’. If he’s going into a fight as risky as Usyk, he wants the biggest reward possible which is to be the undisputed cruiserweight world champion. ... There is a very good chance of this fight happening. My job is to make it, because Bellew has asked me to.”

Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk added this:

“I would prefer Usyk debuting in the heavyweights. But he is an undisputed [champion] in the cruisers so it is likely that fight might happen in cruiserweight division. Usyk wants the fight. I have a lot of respect for Tony, he is a brave and determined fighter who proved his skills and character in the last couple of fights. Bellew is an emeritus WBC champ, Usyk holds the regular WBC title. This fight should definitely take place.”

Bellew (30-2-1, 20 KO) has fought his last two bouts at heavyweight, a pair of sensational wins over David Haye, and at 35 you’d think he wouldn’t be looking to boil down to the 200-pound limit again.

But if this is really his desire, he may be right: the biggest reward is to be able to possibly call yourself undisputed cruiserweight champion, rather than just winning a big fight at heavyweight, in another man’s debut in the division.

Usyk (15-0, 11 KO) is fresh off of unifying the four belts by handily beating Murat Gassiev in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series, and is a hot name in the sport, a top pound-for-pound fighter and emerging star.

His ultimate goal, as stated by Krassyuk in the Sky article, is to face Anthony Joshua. So a move to heavyweight is inevitable, but one more big fight at cruiser might make sense in this case.
