Like Kelly Pavlik ... this isn't going to set him back too much ... the middleweight division sucks and he was just baby sitting the belts till he got a better opportunity at the higher weight classes.

He'll just move up to super middleweight ... I hope he doesn't elect to take the rematch ... I see their excuse being weight ...

Pavlik would just move up, fight Allan Green, then fight Bute ... and hopefully win a title.

I think that Pavlik is very limited, but has gotten better and he's a bit on the one dimensional side ... not very athletic ... not all that good of a boxer ...

He's succeeded against fighters who've walked straight to him, never a fighter he had to find ... never a fighter who attempted to outbox him ... (other than Hopkins)

He will find it hard to stay on top without the ability to adjust, defend, and to box ... everything else he's pretty good at. He's strong, doesn't need much speed, and has good experience and fundamentals.

He better hope that Bute loses because if Bute wins, I don't see him winning that fight either.

I don't know why Pavlik fans are using that Quintana fight as a crutch ... I can tell you this Quintana is a better boxer than Pavlik ... he might not be as big or as strong, but he threw alot of punches that fight, he's very slick, and he was a late fill in for Kermit Cintron.

What was crazy though is that Hopkins totally outclassed Pavlik ... almost knocked him out and there was no need for a rematch because the same thing, if not worse would've happened.

In the Quintana rematch, Williams knocked him out in one round ... that should tell you how easy it was for him to bounce back.

Pavlik took alot of unnecessary shots against Rubio and let that lesser fighter go deep into the fight with him.

Pav needs to believe he is invincible once again, and maybe, just maybe, if he improves a good amount in the dimensions he is poor in/is missing altogether, maybe he can challenge BHop one day again. The latter is incredibly optimistic, and supposing he's already moved up to SMW.

To the former, though, it's hard to look invincible once you take your first loss, sure. If he is able to at least, if he loses, give a good fight against P. Will, then I see him likely getting maybe a start on that road, hence I chose the 2nd option.

just around walk with me and rudyard. 2 posters that talk in circles constantly. Hypothesis and what if's are draining to a forum board and those two thrive on it.

It all depends on how he loses. If by some strange reason Pavlik gets beat to the punch all night and KO'd in the middle rounds, losing every round in the process, 'exposed' and 'overrated' will be thrown around here like confetti. And his Rep will never be the same again.

But let's be real, it's going to be competitive for at least the first half of the fight, until someone establishes control. I'm expecting a really close fight right through slightly leaning towards Pavlik towards the end cos of his power. The rematch will be much anticipated IMO.

What's wrong with thinking ahead about what might happen?

    I like WWM's polls.
