How does May become GOAT?

I know some of you have him there already, but I mean in general consensus. Would he have to beat Rocky Marciano's record then retire? Or would he have to beat Martinez? Would a win over Pacquiao 2 years ago been enough?

I'm sure most people, although myself not included, have Muhammad Ali as the number 1. What would Mayweather have to do to dethrone him?

 

When did he have his best oppertunity, and what would he have to have done? (Just interested in thinking that we had people so close in this generation. **** you future children thinking the new flavour of the month is the best )

I still think he's going to be up there, but yeah I'll pretty much always see him as someone who might have had more skill in the ring than anyone else, but he picked fights that would highlight it best. If May didn't have such a golden path into the boxing ring, he might have had some more wear and tear and would have took on all challengers. One bad decision in his early career and we'd have seen a whole different fighter. I kind of always got the feeling that he was afraid of his own record you know. (Yes, I have a Pacquiao avatar and I'm speaking down on Mayweather. That doesnt mean you have to say KO6 or whatever your blood boiling selfs are compelled to do).

If Mayweather had beat Pacquiao (in a close fight, not a shut out because everyone needs to show perseverance), Canelo, Martinez and Ward by now, would he have topped the scales yet? If Mayweather had the attitude of Carl Froch we'd have the greatest ever.
