I would acually want to see Mayweather against Marquez again. It seems like Marquez has adapted to the weight alot better, evident if you compare weigh ins from Mayweather vs Pacquiaos. I mean he knocked out the n#2 p4p fighter in the world. They should fight again.
He might do a little better, but styles really do make fights. He didn't win but maybe 3 seconds against May and maybe a minute against pac this 4th fight (alas, the important minute) Traditional boxers don't trouble Floyd at all, he has the patience to never be countered. You need unorthodoxy. So many triangles in boxing don't work out: benitez ud duran easy, duran destroy moore easy, moore KO benitez in 2 easy. Marquez is all wrong for Floyd and so so right for Manny, even though Manny is the superior athlete and outside of their rivalry is a far far more dangerous fellow than Juan, especially to a guy like Floyd who occasionally gets hit by southpaws and has to use a high guard and walk them down because the default shoulder roll is not as effective from that angle.
I think it's unfair to say that Floyd's not the best of his generation. While Pac is my #1 of all time, the losses Pac has taken hurt him. I personally don't see anything wrong with Pac's form, and don't think it has ANYTHING to do with "getting old". He was just outclassed against Marquez in the last one, and took a flash KO in the second. Both men cherry picked quite a bit, and even though both rightful losses of Pac were against a guy who's always had his number, it was still at the end of the day a guy May dealt with easily. May might have walked into someone who had his number, but none of them were even close. To think that it's just by chance that it hasnt happened yet isnt really a likley assessment. May would have to get knocked out to lose at this point imo. Both men didnt really fight the complete who's who list of opponents, but May held out and has still never lost. I think that is the main defining moment between the two. But the general unbiased view is that he couldn't do anything now to be the greatest? I still think it's there for him. He has plenty of time to step up to the plate. Wins over Pacquiao, Ward and Martinez would put him there. The weight with Ward is a lot, but if they could somehow get it together it would be ridiculous. I even think that if May faught Canelo it would show some balls. I suppose that answers my question though. I think it's that I'm calling for him to "show some balls", where you couldnt deny the grit of guys like Robinson, Hagler, Ali, Frazier, Leonard etc. Technically though, it's almost no doubt that he's the most talented in the ring, which to me ******ts threads like this.
He will never be a GOAT. At this point he's in a class with Pacquiao and Marquez but he's never given himself stylistic challenges, not since his move up to 135. He should have fought Margarito, Cotto, Williams and Mosley in 2007/2008, he should have taken Pacquiao on 2-3 years back...he ducked those fights, and continues to duck fights. He will not take on Martinez either. Last time he tested himself was when he moved up to LW to take on Castillo, a fight he actually lost. Since then his resume has been a list of well considered opponents with the plan of maintaining his 0 and riding on the coattails of De La Hoya to maximise his earning power from that point onwards.
*Guy with Pacquiao avatar asks if Mayweather is the greatest of all time* *Mayweather fan says its to distract from Pacquiao loss* :hi:
Yeah I think Floyd will win this time around and probably punish him badly sincce he is fighting alot more offensive nowdays. However, I think if you knock out the p4p nr2 you pretty much get a shot at the mythical title. But I wouldn't cry my eyes out to see a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao next year tbh. You can't really know if he would beat him before they acually meet in the ring. What I don't want to see is another fight between Marquez and Pac.
See below. I personally don't think he's a million miles off and think he could have achievements in his career that would put him there.
He could beat marquez 3 more times to prove a point to *******s he should also clean house at 154, and if he beats sergio at a catchweight he would definitely propel bigtime, like top 15
I see you're new here. first one is trolling look at his locAtion. second one is sAying best of his era which is true but not close to mAking him goat. third one is either joking or trolling.
Fight and defeat Pacman 2 years ago, Martinez and Canelo...then he'd be the best of his generation without question.
I'd like to see him beat every big name out now. Everyone popular. If he could do that, top 15 would be in the rear view. Canelo, Pacquiao, Martinez, Khan, Guererro, Garcia etc. He's still in his boxing prime, so it's not an unobtainable task, and as someone with that oppertunity he should be pushing to really make a statement for the greatest of all time.
He has to beat Manny, Canelo and Martinez and after that beat who ever is higher in the P4P list or considered the best out of Bradley, Rios, Guerrero, Trout and Garcia
