That's not the most reliable sentence I've ever read :D. I can't recall reading about much fuss from contemporary sources.

Maybe I'm underestimating how many Tillis fans there are around these parts- a Quick Clique must have formed in my absence.

I scored it for Tyson the first time, so I must have become a born again Tillis some times after that without really taking notice. :)

But the last two times I scored it I broke it down in in minutes and had Tillis win the first two minustes with Tyson coming on strong in the last in quite a few rounds. I also had the KD round 10-9 to Tyson since Tillis was winning it handily up to that point.

33% disagreed with the official verdict on The Eye of the Ring. The average scorecard had Tyson by 2 pts with 5-4-1 in rounds.

So the KD made the difference on the average scorecard on The Eye on the Ring.

That figure includes people who scored it a draw. I just took a look and 3 people on there scored it a draw and only 2 for tillis.

I had Tyson winning the fight, Tillis just made it very hard.
Tyson was missing the confidence he had in his championship reign, wasnt committing to shots(especially to the body) like he did later, he was moving his head but not realy stepping in and firing off the weave consistently. Kind of boxing with tillis for whatever reason.
He looked better against green and even better against ribalta , fully turning over the body shots.

People forget how lethal Holmes's jab was at his best. Tyson in his prime was a wrecking machine but he didn't beat anyone of the caliber of a prime Holmes. Its a fight that could go either way but I lean towards Holmes winning by a close decision.

Yes, this was a Tyson on a learning curve and probably on a bit of an off night as well. I don't make very much of it, personally.

Aaah, so more controversial that I thought. I really need to keep up-to-date with the obviously overwhelming Cult of Quick Tillis, which everybody seems part of these days. Everywhere I go, kids of all ages wearing "Fightin' Cowboy" t-shirts, the kitchen at work is full of Tillis mugs, my local bookshop has already sold out of the best selling book "Thinkin' Big" - he's everywhere!

I am going to use this next time my nephew is at my mums and dads (possibly this Sunday) and wants to talk Tyson yet again...my opening gambit will be "...but have we ever discussed the very controversial Quick Tillis fight yet"?

Or how about Mitch 'Blood' Green "Hugger" jackets being sold at a certain New York late night boutique with "Don King cheated me out of the Tyson fight" written on them?

Oh Larry had barrels of that ... I'm talking more about the Marciano/Frazier/Tyson swarmer types I guess.

Tillis was very much a "Doug Jones" figure for Tyson,I think.

Tyson only landed significant blows when the antiquated Holmes either had his back to the ropes, standing still (first knockdown), or (last knockdown) when he got his arm caught in the ring ropes. Although Tyson did land follow-up punches following the first knockdown, it was on a badly concussed Holmes. Tyson couldn't and wouldn't catch him if it was the best version in his prime.

Peak Tyson is all wrong for any version of Holmes.

Tyson by knockout is the most likely outcome.

I agree but I think he generally beats Frazier, just maybe not that version of Joe.
