How does the Adamek-Cunningham result reflect on Chad Dawson?

Many know that for the Dawson fight Adamek was apparently weight-drained to an extent that even Roy Jones fans who wish to talk about Tarver I would have a hard time grasping (Roy went from 193 to 175 in 8 months. 18 pounds in 8 months; Adamek showed up to fight Dawson at 174 pounds. 4 months later in his CW debut, he weighed 197.75. That's 23.75 pounds. In 4 months. You can imagine how hard he had to cut weight to fight Dawson).

Forgetting about the preceeding paragraph, however, the question is this: How does Adamek winning tonight's fight and the IBF Cruiserweight title reflect on Chad Dawson? Does it lift up his resume because a former foe won a belt? Or does it diminish Dawson's win due to the nature of Adamek's performance (nearly stopped in one of the early rounds (4?) and faded badly down the stretch, etc.)? Does it make Dawson's chin look better seeing as how Adamek dropped Cunningham 3 times but only put Dawson down once?

    What's your take?

Not sure that it reflects on Dawson that much. Dawson beat Adamek easy, and its too late to start this weight crap, adamek wasnt coming down in weight, he was defending his title and he got outclassed...Cunningham is a sloppy fighter with decent skills and talent...Cunningham isnt a world beatter nor is he an elite level fighter, he is what he was, a guy that won a title, and will likely win another in what is a waste land in boxing.

This fight has nothing to do with Dawson.

Exactly, people need to realize that Adamek trained for this fight and fought Cunningham not Dawson. Now I like Dawson as a fighter alot but he should'nt get credit for a fight he was'nt even involved with, again Adamek won this fight not Dawson.

Adamek was weight drained but it was Dawsons speed that he couldnt overcome. At CW Dawson would be in trouble.

It reflects about as much on Chad Dawson as Bhop's win over Tarver reflected on Jermain Taylor, which is not much whatsoever. Although, JT never was able to hurt BHop the way Adamek was able to hurt Dawson.

People seem to forget that despite getting dominated for the first 9 rds, if he was weight-drained Adamek was never hurt or tired and actually knocked Dawson down in that fight and had him reeling for the last 3 rds.

    A few things.

1- Jones was 199lbs on fight night for the Ruiz fight.
2- He didn't drop 24 lbs for the Tarver fight. He didn't step into the ring at 175lbs. He probably stepped into the ring around 185lbs. So he dropped about 14-15lbs.
3- For the same reasons, Adamek didn't gain 23lbs in 4 months. He probably gained about 10lbs. (From 185-187lbs to 197lbs)

So if you just extrapolate Dawson to fight todays not drained version of Adamek ... would Dawson dominate again or would he be in trouble from beginning as he was in the latest 3 rounds of their first fight?

I think personally that Dawson = Cunningham at cruiser.

I think it would play out the same way the first fight did simply because of speed. The only difference would be that Dawson punches would be even less effective and he'd be in more danger if he got caught. He'd basically have to fight a perfect fight for 12 rds, something he was able to do against him at 175 for only 9 rds. I have mixed feelings about the kid, mostly about his focus and stamina and his questionable punching power. His last fight against Tarver was his best to date, but I, like many others, felt that he lost to Glen Johnson.

I don't think Dawson has as much power at Cunningham but is definitely faster and would be competitive at cruiser because of his speed. If Chris Byrd could do it at HW, Dawson could definitely do it CW especially since its a bit of a no man's land of a division. Any CW worth a damn fights at HW.

He could went easier way by cutting his leg then gluing it back.
