How does Tony Jeffries get into ring NOT knowing how long his fight is?!

Come on Phil. You cant say Jeffries was at the olympics because of kind officials. He won a bronze fair and square.

 

That's the problem, ever since he won his bronze medal he has been given the star treatment. Fair enough the club asked him to parade his medal around the pitch, but then he was asked to sign his promotional contract with Maloney on the pitch or some bollocks like that.

Then you have a certain section of the crowd seem more interested in chanting Jeffries' name as he appears in his box (fraud, ****, man of the people bollocks :hey), having people around the city telling him he's the greatest fighter since sliced bread, doing public workouts etc. Given the star treatment after doing very little in the pro game and not looking at all impressive so far.

Mandanda made a very good point last night, when comparing Jeffries refusal to leave Sunderland to Frankie Gavin moving from Birmingham to Manchester so he could keep his head down and really fulfil his potential.

It was full of mongs after the King fight, I haven't ventured on there yet as I'm expecting it to be an utterly embarassing representation of the Jeffries Fan Club.

But the general theme is that he was ripped off by the referee over the scoring because ''he won easily'' or over the number of rounds.

That's the point I was attempting to make. :good. It's a perfect example of too much too soon (away from the ring). It's fantastic that Jeffries has that sort of following, but currently it's proving to be a massive stumbling block and he's not dealing with it very well. As you say, he needs to move away for a few good fights so he can concentrate 100% on boxing and nothing else.

At the moment, he's walking into the ring with his mind elsewhere and now it's really beginning to show.

He came through many, extremely tough qualifying tournaments against the best amateurs at his weight in the world then managed to get a bronze medal at the olympics. There might be the odd bad decision at the olympics but you can't just write off a bronze medal as counting for nothing by saying the officials are ****.
