Just looked again at Tucker v Tyson and TFOTC and was struck by the similarities, despite all the spoiling by Tucker, Tyson pressured like Frazier and the tall Tucker got on his bike sometimes unloading with combo`s like Ali v Frazier, despite being a much duller affair how do the fights compare in terms of tactics?

Ali let his hands go a helluva lot more, far more risks.

Yeah the fights were total mirror images.

To be kind Tucker fought tall and Tyson pressured like a shorter fighter should so there’s that.

Other than that the work rate, drama, intrigue and sheer awesomeness was completely missing from Tyson-Tucker by comparison.

One was one of the best bouts ever. The other was a pretty dull affair that only Tyson fantasists would see any comparison to.

Tucker v Tyson was for the unification of the three main belts of the time.
Spinks v Tyson, the build up was more like FOTC. Ali was the people's champion, the man who had his title taken from him.
Spink s was the man who beat the man, but he had no official title.
    Same as Ali really.
Tyson had all the belts, so did Frazier.
There were actually some who said this would be the Ali Frazier of the 80 s.
And that my friends, is where the similarities end.

Tyson-Tucker should not even be mentioned in the same breath as FOTC

    Both were fights.

Both took place in a century.

    That’s all I got.

One was a boxing match. The other was a life and death war.

    Yep.
And one trolling & joking fellow made it life and death by not fighting like a tall & rangy Tony Tucker. If he did, he´d won a decision over 12 rounds.
