How does Usyk do against these past great heavyweights in their primes?

Whilst you have made a good point for consideration, you have only looked from one perspective.

I’m a huge fan of Usyk.

He may be the greatest southpaw HW of all time.

We’ll have to evaluate that at the end of his career.

However, many of those above names could be favoured over him, irrespective of whether or not they’d beaten a southpaw, or a southpaw as great.

Look at Usyk’s style and skills.

He’s amazing. But there’s no such thing as a perfect fighter, because every fighter has a stylistic nemesis. Every single one of them.

    Styles make fights.

The old adage is as true today, as what it was when it was first spoken decades ago.

    Usyk is a chess master.

    He’s a technician.

However, he doesn’t have great power.

He doesn’t have a huge reach.

He can win technical fights based upon his supreme skills.

So what would happen against ATG HW’s where he’d have encountered other great HW’s, with many different styles and attributes??

Yes, most of the guys mentioned may not have beaten any great southpaws. But then at the same time, who has Usyk beaten that resembles those guys mentioned?

Who has he beaten at HW?

You can choose any guy of the list.

    Let’s go with Mike Tyson.

Did Mike ever beat a southpaw as great as Usyk?

    No way.

Yet would I favour Usyk over Mike in a prime, H2H match up?

    Again, no way.

Not because of nostalgia, but because of how they’d realistically have matched up on the night.

Usyk has absolutely nothing to have kept a prime Mike off of him. Nothing.

It doesn’t matter who you think was better on a P4P basis, again, it’s how they would have matched up stylistically.

So whilst I respect your point, you have to look from Usyk’s perspective too.

Whilst those guys mentioned might be in-experienced against great southpaw HW’s, Usyk is in-experienced against any great HW.

Finally, your post lacks credibility when you refer to guys like Moorer and Byrd as LHW’s.

    It’s not an excellent post.

They don’t have to have beaten southpaws, or southpaws as great, in order to realistically have been favoured over him.

You can’t just say guys like Tyson and Lewis couldn’t be favoured over him, based on the fact that they didn’t fight or beat any southpaws as good.

It’s not as simple as that.

Because who has Usyk ever beaten for him to have been favoured over those guys?

Then look at how they’d have matched up stylistically.

He’s made a decent point, but he’s only looked from one perspective.

Usyk is a fine fighter. However, he’s only had a handful of fights at HW, and Bredis gave him a good fight at CW.

It’s far too early to be talking of him beating past ATG HW’s.

It’s not about having a technical weakness, it’s about encountering a problematic style.

    Which Ali?

I don’t see how he beats Louis with EASE.

Holmes would have been extremely tough.

Vitali would have been an extremely tough match up. I don’t see the Byrd relevance.

These are bold statements based on only a handful of fights at HW.

But there are styles and levels, and Usyk is obviously of the highest level.

Sorry, but if I go down the list I see plenty of guys I would not count him out against. Louis struggled with Billy Conn's footwork and movement. You going to tell me the larger faster Uysk doesn't stand a chance? Marciano, Dempsey? Come on.

I'm not going to waste time arguing with folks that want to overrate the fighter's from the past. I just don't have time for it. You want to say Uysk has fought mostly at Cruiserweight and is not heavyweight while taking about Marciano, Dempsey, Frazier etc who are all smaller than him. GTFO! Uysk has beaten everyone put in front of him and most of those guys in their own backyard.

Don't tell me what I can and cannot refer to as an excellent post.

    Don’t be ridiculous.

    You’re normally a good poster.

    These comments are absolutely laughable.

Usyk is a fine fighter. But the reality is: He’s a 3 fight HW who was troubled by Bredis at CW.

He’s never fought or beat a truly great HW yet.

The guys above all had a huge array of styles, skills and attributes which would have been greatly problematic.

He’s done absolutely nothing for anyone to believe that he’d have toyed with those guys.

You’ve got to be high if you think he’d a toyed with a guy like Mike Tyson.

Even if you think that he’s a level above Mike on a P4P basis, Mike would have been a huge favourite based on how they’d have matched up stylistically on the night.

Saying he’d beaten then is one thing, but saying that they’d have posed no threat and they’d have been toyed with is nothing short of delusional.

No, AJ wouldn’t have beaten most of them either.

So you’re either trolling, or you’ve got completely carried away.

Ali didn’t go life and death with Mildenburger, and he was literally fighting every other month at that point on his European tour.

    Zero chance!?

    I despair.

Who has Usyk EVER fought or beat that even resembles Mike Tyson?

    Nobody is the answer.

Usyk does not possess a huge reach.

He hasn’t got a big, great jab.

    He doesn’t have huge power.

It’s no good saying that Mike never fought a southpaw before.

Usyk has never fought a great HW before.

He has never seen a guy with Mike’s unique style.

A guy with Mike’s speed and power.

A ferocious guy who constantly went forward who could pressure and switch hit.

A guy who threw those short, speedy combinations, who could get in close.

All your posts are pro Usyk.

Not once have you looked from HIS perspective.

He wouldn’t be favoured over Mike based on styles.

Mike would have backed him up and pressured him.

Again, I love Usyk. But you are making these bold statements based on 3-4 fights at HW, whilst ignoring any styles that he’d have been presented with.

Same height and reach as Ali, so I see no deficit there, especially considering his speed, defense and southpaw style.

As for his power, he hit hard enough so that he had the big, giant, unbeatable full-blown super heavy Anthony Joshua staggering around at the end of their fights and not the other way around as a lot of casuals were predicting, so I think its pretty obvious that he can turn on the power when he wants.

There's some serious trolling going on in this thread.

Usyk hasn't had nearly enough of a challenge at HW to compare him to the likes of Ali and Holmes.

How is whooping Chisora and AJ proof of anything? He could definitely make a claim of being Wlad/Vitali quality perhaps if he whoops AJ, whoops a few mandatories, sure....

But even if Usyk becomes undisputed and has a HW resume of -

    AJ x2
    Ruiz/Ortiz - WBC belt
    Joyce - Mandatory.

No one on that list comes close to Mike Tyson, Ali, Holmes or Lewis.

    Oh dear.

A prime, 36 year old Chisora. Ha!

Again, Ali didn’t go life and death with Mildenburger. He was treated like an exhibition in a European tour.

Usyk has modern science on his side and has studied Ali?

Yeah, he’d have been heavily favoured then, thanks to YouTube. Ha!

Let’s just ignore his unique style.

Let’s ignore his incredible hand and foot speed, and his shot repertoire, technique and cat like reflexes etc.

Each post you make is weaker, with less context given.
