Actually there has been a variety of different answers in here.

Lots of heavyweights are tall. Few of those can do what Vitali does avoiding punishment.

Lots of heavyweights have quick reflexes. Few of those can do what Vitali does avoiding punishment.

A fair number of heavyweights come from kickboxing backgrounds. Few of those can do what Vitali does avoiding punishment.

A fair number of heavyweights possess iron chins. Few of those can do what Vitali does avoiding punishment.

It all just comes together for him.

  3. The only time he fought someone decent and his own size he got pizza faced and stopped in 6, and that fighter happened to be old, out of shape and on the eve of his retirement with fvck all left to prove.

So I think the answer lies with the quality of opposition which has been absolute gash.

Lennox was 37, he wasn't out of shape and it was by cuts on a guy with paper skin. Big deal. Lennox hit him with everything he had and could not put him down he even tried to push him down at one point and couldn't even do that.

Vitali is 42 and still fighting. Guess he is old, out of shape, and on the eve of retirement right? See how stupid that sounds?:rofl

Well said. Footwork and balance are the foundations of his style, having the solid chin allows him to implement it effectively. Definitely influenced by his kickboxing training.

yes, as stupid as Vitali defending vs. an unranked bum again. oh I mean exactly as stupid as.

And repeatedly getting caught by that unranked bum, I would add, too.

He just leans back and is out of range.

come on, Lewis aside, he needs to fight world level opps before we can judge him.

hes leaving it a bit late but you never know what he might acheive with a late rally.

Despite his obvious deficiencies, Vits had good reactions and stands several inches taller that amounts to a substantial lean-back. The reactions are fading fast though, as shown when a nobody subnational was catching him repeatedly (as to why he was defending the world title against someone like that when real champs like Lewis took on the best when they were old is another question).

Against mediocre to middling opposition he can avoid most punches, its like back when you were kids and your little sister trying to land a punch on your head. Theres a reason for weight categories, but being in HW allows superheavies to bypass that rule and freepass the advantages of a LHW against a welter.

I really look over the idiots that try to deny Vitali with a fight against Lewis. First of all, Lewis is one of the best HW's in boxing history like Vitali and secondly both men were hit hard during the fight and if you look at the punch stats Vitali not only hit Lewis more but stunned him too.

You can't point out deficiencies in a fighter if hes literally facing a generational talent especially when the fight itself is why people regard Vitali as a top HW of all time.

By the way, "just leaning" is a terrible explanation. If that's the case then why didn't other tall fighters do the same?

Why didn't Tyson Fury just lean back against Cunningham?

The only other true elite he fought, tore his face apart.

I like Vitalaevus, but he's in a **** poor era, sad to say.

Because his shape and conditioning are horrible compared to Vitali's?

You need good core balance, which Klitschko does and Fury doesn't.

Awesome reflexes, good awareness, mastery of distance.
