The "lean" is his ability to bend his upperbody from his waist up, to create an arc/angle that is both awkward and defensive in purpose.

Thats how I would describe it anyway:D

Its very unorthodox an unusually effective for such a tall man.

leaning is what he does. fury does not do it cause he does not have the coordination or anticipation that vitali does.

just cause it sounds easy it doesn't mean that it is...

He's very, very tall even for a heavyweight, that height allows him to get away with things that even guys who are only 6 feet 4 or so can't do. Also when you look at his opposition he has rarely faced opponents who are close to being as tall as him the most notable exception being Lewis. While Wlad has faced tall fighters like Thompson and Wach, Vitali has mainly been facing guys 3-4 inches shorter if not more.

But he also has a style which utilises his height very well, look at how he was out boxing Lewis. Who has ever previously been able to out box Lewis?

Vitali judges distance very well. He often leans forward slightly with his hand down to draw a lead. Then when he leans back to slip a counter he is in perfect position and balanced to throw a counter. Prime Roy Jones Jr and Mayweather use similar tactics. You have to have good reflexes to use this technique and Vitali clearly has them. He may not have the speed and explosiveness of Wlad but his reflexes and timing are better.

He only has his hands down when back or running away, but when he comes forward his hands are up. Also being 6'8 don't hurt there is more distance for your opponent to hit your head and he kind of leans back a fair bit. Also most of his opponents fail to go to the body and focus on head hunting. But when he fights tall guys like lennox he is VERY hittable. Lennox is good but he is not say an expert on nailing slick guys either. Vitali carefully picks opponents and has a good chin too, so even if he gets hit sometimes we don't notice/
