How does Wilder justify sitting out for all of 2023? And should we be ok with it?

I really don't see any good excuse for a top fighter not fighting at least twice a year. The only exception would be a medical situation, like recovering from surgery or from a brutal KO loss, neither of which applies to Wilder.

He is getting Arab money in December
It actually in his best interest not to risk or diminish that huge purse.

He has lifelong injuries from being destroyed by Fury. For the good of his long-term health, he should restrict his activities to shouting "BOMB SQUAD!!" and shadow boxing.

First off, he's not really a "top fighter" - he's currently a big name because of his long title reign, despite the conspicuous absence of any serious quality defences.

And therein lies the explanation - he knows his ability to demand a big payday will be irrevocably damaged if he takes on a tough opponent and gets humbled, which he will if he fails to get the KO (and the KO itself is more difficult against top fighters with how telegraphed his power punches are).

This is entirely about managing the cash-out to not waste the potential earnings he could still get.

    Fraud is as fraud does.

I'm not OK with it. And I'm sure Deonkey would be very concerned to hear that.

Wilder is mentally done. He knows he can’t beat Fury. He’s a Glass Jawed one trick pony.

How does Usyk justify almost getting bodied by Daniel Dubious ruining his big final payday and undisputed? He doesn't his team are useless and he should fire them

How does AJ justify looking like a useless scared coward against an out of coffin Helenius?
How does Fury justify fighting an MMA fighter?

I tell you how they justify it in the words of Floyd Mayweather "shrewd business decisions"

All want the Fury Saudi dollar which will all be revealed soon enough.

Usyk doesn't control Dubois's decision to make his fight tactics a calculated gamble that the referee will allow lowblows - nor is it something Dubois is previously known for.

Lowblows aside, it was a comfortable and easy win, as expected.

It's not Fury that brings the Saudi dollars, it's the thought of an undisputed heavyweight for the first time in too long...

The big money fight was AJ-Wilder for years, whilst Wilder kept on ducking (as he spent most of his career doing).

It only changed to Fury in any way when Fury took the belt off the bumsquad and became part of the undisputed picture...

Likewise the main reason the previous heir to the heavyweight crown (Joshua) isn't the cashcow of the division anymore is because he's not in that undisputed picture right now.

Fury is just another pawn - if he never takes the undisputed fight, the demand and money will still be there for that fight.

No man is or ever has been bigger than the sport - and those that try to manufacture themselves as such always wind up looking stupid.

Lol the guys finished. Fought 1 round in 2 years. Won’t even fight Ruiz who Parker and Josh fought years and years ago - let alone any contenders Sanchez, Bakole, Zhang etc. Wilder just needs to retire now this ain’t going anywhere
