If he had been around this past ten years? So hitting his stride in around 2015,is this a Tyson run few years or is that not happening iyo?
I think the only real challenge is Fury, mostly due to his sheer length. He's gonna have trouble closing the distance against a 2 meter tall behemoth with a 14 inch reach advantage who likes to stiff arm at range, but Fury doesn't have the skills to hang with him if Tyson manages to get past that problem. Usyk is great, but it's simply a bad stylistic match up. He doesn't have his usual advantage in speed, explosiveness and overall athleticism here, and he never showed he could overcome the type of fire that Tyson will force on him. Briedis had him in real trouble and he doesn't bring half the pain. And unless he decides to always throw with full power in each shot right from the beggining, he simply doesn't have the type of power to make Tyson respectful of him, those pitter patter shoe shines he likes to throw to set up harder shots are not even gonna register in Mike's mind. The rest either get iced or spoil their way to a decision loss.
Unfortunately, with Tyson, we have to accept the good and the bad. We have to accept that at some point, his out of the ring issues would pop up. In particular, Tyson's inability to understand how women were trying to take advantage of him. I suspect Tyson would tear through the division the same way he actually did. Old Wlad would get stopped easily. Joshua would get hammered. Tyson is too strong inside for Joshua and it would be more brutal than the Bruno fights. Ruiz would fall to body shots. Zhang might stun him once or twice but he is far too heavy to absorb the body shots Tyson would throw at him. Fury has the length to cause him issues but i doubt Fury would agree to fight Tyson. Wilder would get stopped easily. Tyson was not unbeatable but to beat him, you need height, a strong jab, a strong right hand, and the ability to throw powerful uppercuts on the inside. No heavyweight in the past decade can do all of these things except maybe Joshua and Joshua is too fragile to win. Usyk would probably beat an out of form or declining Mike but again, if Tyson is in form, Usyk does not have the tools to deal with him. Ultimately, i could see Tyson losing to any top 10 heavyweight if he showed up unmotivated. I think Tyson would dominate from 2015-2021 and then decline as he did in his own time. I have no idea who would be the one to dethrone him but it only takes one off night for someone to upset you.
Agree fully At his best I expect him to beat all these guys, but after the 5 or 6 years, maybe Usyk and fury could deal with him? Though not certain, as he still looked pretty formidable post Douglas vs Stewart and Ruddock Honestly I think I would pick a 91 Tyson to still beat these guys, especially in their current condition, as Fury, Usyk etc ain't prime either
He would not have been at HW. Tyson hit just early enough where CW wasn't really a serious weight class and he had to do LHW or HW. The problem with predicting Tyson H2H is if he faces any adversity early on hes probably losing. So he either wins easy or he loses. Hes not going to win a competitive match unless hes hanging on to a lead like he did with Tucker.
Ruddock nailed him with lefts after big lefts and Tyson never backed down. This simply isn't true. Even vs Douglas, he almost won despite being down on the cards. Yes, he absolutely would have been at heavy. Tyson would have mauled the likes of Zurdo and most cruisers wouldn't be interested in fighting him. He was a legit 215 lb man. The idea that he wouldn't be at heavy just isn't true.
By early adversity I mean being down in a fight. He was 5 10. Being 215 is overweight. I know many are in denial about that but he was overweight and muscle or fat, his frame wasn't meant to carry that much mass.
Its not denial. He was in very good shape. When he was genuinely overweight late in his career (like 230 lbs), he was slow. But if he was overweight at 215 lbs, explain why he was so fast? He was the fastest moving heavyweight since Ali so why would a fat guy be able to move his feet like that?
According to google. "A 5'10 person weighing 215 pounds has a BMI that falls into the obese category". He had a BMI of 30.9. And a BMI over 30 is classified as obese.
The issue was never Tyson's ability/talent/technique. He had enough to be good in basically any era and win a strap at the bare minimum. As for this era, I agree with most of the posts. He could potentially beat and of these guys, but for how long? How long until he slacks off in training or goes to prison? The issue with Tyson was always his mind. The guy was simply put, unhinged with tons of pent up issues from a horrible childhood, lack of a father figure, drug and sex abuse, bullying, etc. The truth is it wouldn't matter if Cus were around or not, at some point he would have unraveled. Whether it's getting into a street fight, going on a drug binge, or dealing with allegations, Tyson is unlikely to hold onto his belt for too long.
A guy with a 20 inch neck, a six pack, big biceps, developed triceps, and dinosaur calf muscles isn't obese by any stretch of the imagination.
ridiculous how anyone can see Tyson's physique and call him obese, no obese man is moving like Tyson was
Bigfoot is purported to ritualistically tie braids into the manes of horses and that it isn't naturally occurring fairy knots but a sure sign of the squatch in your inter-dimensional region. The same is true of other things as well. Some people believe Tyson's Mao tattoo is actually just a birthmark.
