I'm sure I've seen others argue Farr's case on here

As for 'close decision going to the champ' you mean like Otke :yep

I think Walcott beat Louis - I scored it to Walcott pretty clearly - but then I credit Louis for coming back to KO Walcott (and in my mind become the first in history to regain the title) and I rate Walcott very highly so for a past his best Louis to KO Walcott says a lot for the prime Louis - at the same time Ali had his one's at a similar stage - I scored wins for Shavers, Norton and Young against Ali and again that was a past his best Ali - but like I say it may impact on their legacies somewhat but when I'm thinking about my best heavyweights ever - I pretty much go solely on head to head who I think would win on both's best days - I don't think far even won more than maybe 4 rounds at most from Louis in a 15 rounder - great fight and competetive but Louis took the rounds - mightily heroic stuff from Farr though granted - for the record I have Louis at 3 and Ali at 4 - so you know - it's what you think I guess everyone has their own feeling about who would beat who and how, on their best days - but going solely on legacies then I think it's a cake walk for Louis actually

The only thing is RSN, Louis was 33 for Walcott, Ali was what 35-36 in those fights and bordering on early onset Parkinsons

Who do you have at 1 and 2, Rocky and JD?

I think if you switch their list of opponents faced, even though Ali's list is superior, they do just as good as each other actually did in reality. With Joe Frazier being the bane of both fighters. Louis could look more dominant during the pre-ban run. I see Frazier decisively whooping his ass though, likely 3/3 times, bad style matchup. And the Frazier fights are big time substance in Ali's resume.

Bottom line is Ali fought the better competition. Also H2H I strongly favour Ali in a matchup. But that is due to style. H2H against the rest of the top HW bunch i believe Louis is just as formidable. Ali is a safe bet, but Louis' power is so immense its not so hard to imagine every ATG getting knocked clean out by him, which is another angle for the word 'dominance' being used.

No, I mean I scored what I have by Louis to a single round. I thought he won the fight. The counter-argument is for a round to Godoy, or a draw, which was what Godoy himself feel he earned. The decision is fine.

The only people i have seen argue Farr-Louis for Farr are you and Mendoza.

Not a BoxRec guy, JD, so I won't make out a case for who's better, Ali or Louis, just my knee-jerk preference, strongly colored by nostalgia: Joe Louis.

Louis was The Heavyweight Champion when there was only ONE -- a fearful, coiled-spring executioner, a brooding colossus admired by every boy 'n his dad. He was deadly, but no loose cannon, like Ali.

Louis was a man for his time, as Ali was for his.
