I know we have some good and bad times in the sport, but at one time we had Roy Jones, Michael Nunn, James Toney, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins etc at middleweight, Imagine what these would do today against the likes of:

    Sebastian Sbik (WBC Interim)
    Sebastian Sylvester (IBF)
    Felix Sturm (WBA)

Benn would have smashed all of these within six months.

Is this the worst lineup in the middleweights for a while?
(I'm ignoring Pavlik here, Ring, WBC and WBO)

    Whats wrong?

Its a shame that Roy Jones, Michael Nunn, James Toney, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins didnt all face each other, I would have loved to have seen Benn or Eubank v Jones or Toney

It's just back and forth. Abraham and Taylor have moved up, Hopkins have moved up. We have alot of prospects + Pavlik, Williams and Martinez.

Exactly, for example Lucian Bute is lineal champ at SMW now (according to both The Ring and Box Rec) but not undisputed.

Why so many jump to say: no way, Bute is not No. 1 ? Who said he is undisputed?

If professionals, and not from a single instutution, say he is, there is no doubt he really is.

In my country is a saying: When two people say you`re drunk the first thing you have to do is to go to bed.

Not easy since you have promoters and the belts have commercial value.

If unifying was easy, it would have been done by more than 4 men. It has not.

Incorrect. Bute is neither lineal nor undisputed... nor the Ring champion. As for Boxrec, who gives a ****?

The Ring championship right now is vacant. Bute may be ranked #1 by the Ring, but that doesn't make him the Ring champ.

The last lineal champ at 168 was Calzaghe. In order to become lineal champ, you gotta "beat the man that beat the man".. and since Calzaghe retired, the new lineal title is determined when the #1 ranked fighter fights the #2 ranked fighter and then the winner is the new lineal champion. That fight hasn't happened so there is no lineal champion at 168.

Undisputed, lineal, and Ring are all different. And none of the three describe Bute right now. You can call him the Boxrec.com champion I suppose...
